I drink a glass of milk a day on average and play basketball outside for a couple of hours about twice a week. How much should I be taking?

Those older than age 9 should not exceed 4,000 IU per day.

I take 10,000 IU a day with no ill side-effects. The Vitamin D council says that 5,000 - 10,000 is a good range to actually see results.

Dave, the vitamin D dose amount to take should be determined based on what your current level is per a blood analysis.
