Salicylic Acid Together With Glycolic Acid

3 posts in this topic

Can both these acid be used together. Currently i am using 0.5% salicylic acid twice daily as it helps to control my oil production and prevent acne. Can i apply 5% glycolic acid 30 min after applying salicylic acid to fade pigmentation?

You can use both! Salicylic acid works more for unclogging the pores and glycolic acid works for renewing the layer of your skin. Just be sure to use sunscreen during the day because the glycolic acid will make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

Morning Routine:
- CLEANSER: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser/Acne.org Cleanser
- BENZOYL PEROXIDE : 1 pump of The Acne.org 2.5%
- MOISTURIZER: CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion + 5-6 drops of Acne.org Jojoba Oil

Evening Routine:
- CLEANSER: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser/Acne.org Cleanser
- BENZOYL PEROXIDE : 1 pump of The Acne.org 2.5%
- MOISTURIZER: Cetaphil Moilturizing LotionĀ + Acne.org AHA + 5-6 drops of Acne.org Jojoba Oil

Medication:

  • Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo
  • Meftormin 500mg

Supplements:
  • Vitamin D - 2000 I.U/day
  • Zinc - 50mg/day

And this is all done as gently as possible. smile.png

I would use your salicylic acid during the day followed by an SPF moisturizer. Use your glycolic acid during the night followed by an moisturizer unless your using an aha lotion then no need for moisturizer.

Using one right after the other can cause irritation making acne look worse. So, use the bha during the day and the aha at night.

Mandelic acid is a great option as its a two in one. It acts like a bha and aha. It's very strong and I only use it once or twice a week. I use a 5% mandelic acid toner from muac.
