Hey guys! It's been a while since ive been updated but its because I've been travelling....a lot. Things are the same since I last updated and I don't expect things to change unfortunately. I have a derm appt for the first week in August and I am going to ask for Spiro- not really interested in another topical solution . Acne has cleared up for the most part except for where it counts which is my chin/mouth area and under my jaw. I am also getting redness around the mouth despite decreasing the BP amount there so......

I can't wait to finish travelling so that I can get back on the healthy eating bandwagon because even though diet never helped my acne, I physically felt better than I do now.

@faith, I am doing everything correctly so I'm not sure why i am still breaking out and experiencing areas of redness.

@moonlight. Nothing has changed. I really hope that the derm is open to Spiro even though acne along chin/mouth/ jaw is not horrendous- just persistent and the redness makes it look much worse.

Off on another vacation so ill update when I can

Thanks for the support guys!

BTW- using the AHA two days on and one day off. I like it but its too early to see if its helping or hurting.

Good luck sasch!! Hang in there and you know you will get The upper hand on your acne soon. I think spiro will be the answer. If your derm doesn't agree with it then try your ob. They are thrilled to treat hormonal acne.

Day # 100

Wow, it seems like i havent given a legit update in forever but ive been travelling and spending time with the people i love which trumps blogging anyday. But now i'm back home and ready to get back to my life as it was. So for all of you that have been reading, here is my 10th day update:

The last week has been pretty much good skin wise. i am not crystal clear but the acne i have been getting have been barely noticiable to the point that i've hardly been looking in the mirror at all. Now my period is on its way so we'll see if that holds up. I have also graduated to using AHA every night mixed in with my moisturizer and i love it! I am not flaking anymore and i am hoping that the few dry patches on my face will dimish along with the marks. As for the redness by my mouth, it hasn't been an issue in a week so we'll see if that continues. If my face stays the way it is now long term, i'll be a happy camper. i have my derm appointment this Friday but i am considering cancelling as there is not much to show him and i doubt he'll prescribe spiro for acne that has been improving on another program but we'll see.

i am truly hoping that my skin is finally turning a corner.

one thing to note it that there is an acne cluster under my jaw that has not improved.......at all. Not sure what thats about but we'll see.

Hey Sasch! :)

Getting to know your skin better!

Really happy you kept going and reached 100 days! 100 days is quite a number and i think it's the time where you can finally tell if something is working or not, at least that was it like during my tane course. I hope thing will keep getting better from now on :D

I know the feeling of "i've tried it all" . . . so i hope this works for you. But remember, there's always a solution to a problem and if this doesn't work, there's tons of stuff left. But i am sure this will work, it has toeusa_pray.gif Just be careful, better safe than sorry. Don't over irritate your skin.

Day 124 (4 months!!!1)cheer.gifcheer.gifcheer.gifcheer.gifcheer.gifcheer.gifcheer.gif

So i know i havent been updating as much but things have been the same so no point in being repetitive. Acne.org is working well for me. 4 months in and despite the setbacks, i can finally say that my acne is controlled.....YAY! I have been through one menstration cycle with no large bumps and i am about to start another and so far, so good. The acne i get is not inflammed and its mostly tny bumps that are not that visible and 90% of the time it will be on my chin/mouth area. i mentioned before the cluster of bumps under my chin and yes, thats still there and no, it hasn't gone away but thankfully, it is not visible to other people so out of sight, out of mind. I do still have my issues with the regimen, mainly having to be dependent on it and my skin tone but acne was my biggest concern and that has disipated ten fold. For anyone just starting or struggling, please read my log. I was 3 months in and still struggling so please please please keep up with it at least till the 4th or 5th month.

In regards to doage, i manage with one pump in the AM and 1.5 in the PM. I dont see the need to do 2 per day.

Any questions or concerns, let me know

Day 173 (5 + months in)

Wow, it's been such a long time since i've checked in and even longer since i've been on the org. Work has been crazy busy and life has been crazy but in a good way. The Regimen has been going well and acne has been pretty much controlled. I currently have 1-2 hard pimples on my cheeks which may or may not be period related but its been a while since i've had those. I'd be lying if i said fear didn't grip me upon feeling those familiar lumps but it is what it is.

I am not clear but my face is acceptable to me. I just wish i could get past the emotional hold that acne has on me. My fear that all this progress will be undone is very real and i don't ever see myself moving past that. If this treatment fail there is no where else to turn except for more medication.....sigh. I'm holding on to the good times though

BTW, winter is around the corner and dryness is back so we'll see how that affects progress.

almost 7 months in. I hope my timeline is not off! Wow, it's approaching seven months since i've been off accutane/on The Regimen and i can honestly say that i am happy with the results. My skin is not flawless and it probably will never be but its a relief to wake up and not have to examine my face and feel crestfallen every time new acne emerged. The acne i get now is on par with normal breakouts and most often than not, it is unnoticeable to others. Only time will tell if this Regimen can be sustained long term. I don't want to be using BP forever but i'll use it as long as i can tolerate it. Maybe i'll get lucky and outgrow my acne

Wishful thinking i suppose.

If anyone else is starting the regimen know that it does work even if it takes longer than 3 months. Keep your heads up Regimen brothers and sisterscheer.gif

The change of environment, the stress of the death in my family and probably other factors have led to me starting to break out mostly on my right chin. Bummer. its several small bumps that are raised. I struggles with these the most since starting the regimen and its the same side of my face too. I think I'll increase my am amount of BP. I hope that this is not the beginning of things to come.....fingers crossed

Thank You. I agree that it is as a result of all these changes. I have several iflammed red bumps on my chest which i know is mosquito bites and several on my face ( the right side). I am not sure if the ones on my face are acne or mosquito bites - either way, I leave to go back to the states today so I should clear up in a week if this is indeed mosquito. This sucks! In the meantime I am taking benadryl to combat the itchiness and hopefully the swolleness. I am still using the regimen as prescribed.

As 2014 approaches i have decided to give one last update for 2013.

I have been on The Regimen for approximately 8 months and in that time, I have experienced the good, the bad and the horrendous. I have broken out, gotten red marks and basically resigned myself to not finding any relief. After 8 months on this program, I can say that the Regimen is controlling my acne. I still have smaller bumps and marks but they are mainly noticeable to me. The 1 or 2 more noticeable pimples I get seem to be related to my period so.................

My diet has completely gone of track but i am determined to get myself back on track diet and exercise wise for my health first and foremost.

To all my regimen and non- regimen peeps who encouraged me to continue when i wanted to quite, a big Thank You!

And for all you new comers who are just starting or struggling, keep your heads up - it is not an easy process and it doesn't always work (i tried several topicals before giving the regimen a try) but do your best to stick to your routine and give it a fair amount of time.

Any questions, feel free to ask :-)

Month 9

Wow! Can't believe that i've been on the regimen for that long! It's been quite a ride!

I am still pleased with the results but the harsh NY winter is killing me. My skin is dry and tight always and i have developed these small bumps that are hardly noticeable to others but are clear to me. Psh......i can deal. Looking forward to spring and more lubricated skin. I have been on Paleo for almost a month and i feel better. Still working on my portion control but for the most part, i've cut out all grains. I also got a blendtec so i'm hoping to gather as many skin saving/healthy living smoothie recipes and start blending twice a day. We'll see how that goes.

I'll be honest and say that i am worried my acne will come back full force but i realize that i need to live in the here and now.

If anyone has any questions, let me know

Skin is a little wonky today. For those of you that have been following along, you might recall rash like redness that plagued me this past summer. Well, it seems to have made a reappearance on the right corner of my mouth. My skin is soooooo dry so i'm going to incorporate using my humidfier again. I have taken to using sanitized tweezers to peel away my flakes also. Still , acne is at a minimum so i'm trying not to get over worked.

As for working out and eating right, i have fallen off track....again. It's a mental block with me and now that it is my time of the month, i just don't have the energy. I am going to have to make a change and soon. Giving it till the end of the week to get my shit together. Will update on my skin soon and let you all know how the humidifier is helping or hurting things

Peace

Somewhere in month 10

Well, i am approaching almost a year on The Regimen and while its been a roller coaster, its been the single most effective TOPICAL that I've ever been on. My acne is in remission for the most part and i am very happy about that. The weather has been getting warmer so my skin is not as dry as it has been. One thing though that i have been noticing is that i am getting dry skin and itching on my neck where i do not use the regimen or moisturize. This started sometime last week and it has been a daily thing. It could be because i am wearing scarves or the up and down weather changes but its been annoying and uncomfortable as hell. I am trying to be more aware where i apply BP and moisturizer also.

My diet and workout has gone the way of the dinosaurs so i will be visiting a YMCA to sign up - i need to get my life back on track

I'm in a mood. I can't pinpoint what i am feeling but i know i am feeling plenty. At the moment, i feel an overwhelming sense of sadness, some minor anxiety and just general uncertainty. So many changes have taken place in my life, some good, some not so good.

I've recently become a Christian and its been a crazy good journey. I struggle however everyday with it.

My work life is going well - I am at a place of contentment

My home life has been more stable and I have been more social the last few months than i have been the last 2 years

On the flip side, I have discovered I do want companionship despite swearing up and down a relationship is not for me

I miss being part of more than myself

Acne affects me more deeply than i ever thought as even though it is under control somewhat, i think about it alot.

I don't know where i am going with this post but i figured that it is part of my acne.org journey so i might as well document it.

Anyone else feel this way at times - would love to speak to others in the same boat.

Update on Rash: It has gotten worse. More red and irritated and very scaly. I made a derm appointment for Tuesday so i'll see what she says. A smile part of me hopes its not the BP causing this (i don't even use BP/Moisturizer on that part of my skin any ole way). It would suck to go back to the way things were.

I'll keep you all posted

Good news! The rash is getting better- turns out i have eczema- the eczema sucks but the cream that i was prescribed is helping. I'll probably use it for a week more and then control it with creamy fragrance free lotion.

The not so good news is that i have developed these under the skin bumps that are hard and resemble cysts except they are not red. They blend in with my skin so they're not obvious but i am still concerned. Cystic acne is the worst. I am in the throes of my period so maybe that is driving the inflammation so who knows. Sigh.....if it's not one thing its another

April the 27th will mark my 1 year anniversary on The Regimen. Wow, can't believe its been that long. I'll definitely do my Pros and Cons update then but for today, i just want to share some of my frustrations.

The eczema is back in full force as i had stopped using the cream and switched over to aveno lotion for eczema a week or so ago. I broke down tonight and used the steroid cream i was prescribed and will probably continue using it until this goes away.

I have a permanent tanned look to the point everyone is asking me what i am using. It's mega annoying and it makes me question what the effects of using this treatment long term.

I have developed places on my face that have permanent acne that doesn't go away. 2-3 are lumps that are barely visible and the rest are acne clusters under both sides of my chin.

Needless to say, i want to quit but there is nothing else for me to try. I signed up for the gym today and i plan on going back on paleo. I doubt this will help as it didnt in the pass but neither is eating the way i have.

I don't know which is worse: acne, eczema or a combo......sigh

I am beginning to develop a cyst like lump on my cheek (similar to the one on my forehead and lower cheek). It is hard, under the skin and of course, no head. I hate these types of acne as they take forever to go away (one one on my forehead has gone down plenty but the one on my lower cheek is still there, hard as ever but not as big)

But anyway, this post is not to bitch on my acne, its just to update that today was my first day back to the gym since 2011. I sweated, i itched, i hurt, it felt great! I haven't worked out in months but i want to get back in shape just to be healthier and happier. I am also getting back into cooking so i will be eating better. I have 0 expectations that this will help my acne as it hasn't in the pass (big let down) but i'd rather only have acne to deal with rather than acne, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc, etc, etc.

I plan to work out from 5 am - 6 am in the mornings and then do evening classes 1-3 times a week. This schedule should not affect my use of the regimen. I didn't wash my face before i worked out as i was still within that 12 hour window but i washed after my workout and did the regimen. When i go in the evenings, I'll shower, wash and do the regimen after my workout

Hoping to finally get back on the right track
