Thanks man! My week has been crazy busy besides acne so this is just the icing on the cake. Hoping that this next month will fly by and the breakouts will be smaller and acne clears up faster. I am at 1 pump of BP and won't be going up for at least a week.

You guys are great supporters so thanks. Glad that you're seeing great progress

Day # 35 (week 5)

So i am the end of my 5th week on the regimen and my skin has taken 3 steps back. I am flaking bad to the point that i have to moisturize several times a day and my skin is really tight. I was thinking that maybe i should order AHA to help with this but i don't think i can deal with the additional breakouts at this point.

Itchiness has been a problem too! I am now at 1 pump twice a day and i can't forsee moving up for a while as my skin is clearly irritated. This is happening mostly on my neck (where i do not apply BP or moisturizer)

Acne is increasing and pimples i am getting are bigger than they were during most of my accutane course. Most of this is happening on my chin/mouth are too which sucks. Pimples are inflamed, red and don't usually have a whitehead. I am also getting them in a cluster formation. It started on the right side of my face and now that that has been clearing up, it is now starting up on the left side. I now have around 4 active pimples on my left mouth area and quite a few under the skin pimples on the lower left side of my face.

I know it's only been 5 weeks but it's discouraging when many users report that 6 weeks is when they notice more consistent improvement. I hate how i look and feel right now. Hoping next week will be better.

Hope my regimen pals are doing well

Awww don't be discouraged Sasch, there's also a lot of people who didn't really see results until the 3rd month and were still breaking out continuously, this might or might not be you but don't give up yet.

My left cheek also looks worse than my right, what a quinky dink! lol don't worry all of us are experiencing breakouts right now but maybe next month will get better :)

Thanks man!It sucks, the dryness, itchiness, flakiness and continous breakouts on my chin/moutth area. I know i have to be patient though. Still trying to settle on a good moisturizer as Dan's and jojoba are not for me and neutrogenia for sensitive skin is not moisturizing enough. Can't wait to get past this stage. BTW, are you up to two pumps yet?

Hey Sasch :) Im really sorry your dealing with the new breakouts and flakiness and stuff, it truly is a nightmare sometimes...well what we perceive as one! I remember when I used BP years ago from the doctor, I wasn't on a regime as such just used that at night after washing with an anti-bacterial fragrant free soap, and I do remember having alot of dryness, but after a while my skin basically just accomodated to it. I tell you that stuff did work like a charm when used properly and kept me clear for a while.

I personally don't think an AHA would be a good idea right now, since you are still breaking out from the regimen, perhaps after a couple more months maybe? Or when the breakouts are much less harsh? Im not that good wot well informed about that stuff though. Currently I am taking a BHA and I use it right now ever third evening before I put of my Azelaic Acid cream. I have read BHA'a are good for like congested and bumby skin and helps unclog INSIDE the actual pore and allows BETTER penetration of like acne treatments - so I would advise that first if you were thinking about the BHA/AHA routes, but maybe not right now.

Im so proud though that you are keeping your "eye on the prize" so to speak and being patient with it. I have that, patience...but it can quickly diminish like a bolt of lightening when I become discouraged. I think the trick is to not let breakouts be discouraging, but more an action that is necessary through the healing process of acne. I think our skin is genuienly meant to get a bit worse before it gets better. I know that saying "worse before it gets better" get so so sooo friggin' old everytime I hear it, but its partly true. Its like a sprain or deep bruise, it gets worse (sorer) before it heals and the itch like crazy when Ive had a sprain before its healed.

Your healing. And you will be healed. Its just going to take some time sweet cheeks :) but be brave and be bold and don't let it bring you down.

You know, I travelled all the way to Aberdeen yesterday for an interview thing, and right now my skin is bad. Really quite bad. But I just let those thoughts go and never looked in any mirrors apart from in the morning when washing my face. I laughed a hell of alot, talked to people (even asked random people for directions), and even flirted with a cute guy who reciprocated the flirting ;)

Basically I appeared confident and it seems confidence is better than being worried about our skin all the time. Being comfortable with you and how you carry yourself is much much more corageous that feeling deflated and shy and "hiding" our appearance from the world.

(total went on a rant there) keep us posted with your progress Sasch, just give it time

Stacey, you give solid advice and i appreciate it. i know i am still early on in treatment and that quitting now would be a mistake so i plan to keep on keeping on. During the day, i can avoid my face as i am busy with work but in the evenings and on weekends are the hardest for me. I just need to recognize that everything takes time (thanks for the reminder). I recently ordered AHA but as you said, now may not be the right time to use it. i will wait till i am at the full amount of BP and not breaking out as much - it's the smartest move. I wish the best of luck with your treatment and even though SPIRO was not a good match for you, i am praying that you find something that helps.

Day 38 (week 6)

Ah Mondays, how i hate you so. In the tradition of Monday's i am broken out on my mouth area.....again. Woke up with a sore, red active by my left mouth and another one is growing right below it. On the right side of my mouth i have 3 pimples, not as sore but still, acne is acne. I also have quite a numer of smaller bumps on my left jawline as well as by my left side burn line. My foreheas also has an active but i suspect that will go away soon. My mouth area has been itching up a storm so i suspect that means more breakouts in my future.....drat! I think i'll increase to 1 1/2 pumps this weekend and see what happens. So far, my views on the regimen are so so. In any event, people are right in saying the first few months are the hardest.

Still breaking out here too, 3 months get here soon please!!

If you do end up increasing BP, also increase the amount of moisturizer, That's something I failed to do and that's why my skin was so flaky!

Thanks for the advice Faith. I will do it! Well my Regimen peeps, Saturday i start week 7 on The Regimen and i am more than 5 weeks before the 3 month mark so YAY for me. Unfortunately, for the past two weeks i have been consistently breaking out on my chin and mouth and it fing sucks. Right now i have about four blind red pimples on my left side that will no doubt come up between today and this weekend. When they arise, they usually have no puss and take about a week to go down before more come up. I'd be lying i i said i wasn't crabby about it. Not only is it red and ugly, it itchs like a mutha.

Even on accutane my chin never had this kind of flare (before accutane was a different matter but i don't remember them being this big). When i was doing my holistic crap, i had this kind of acne and that period of time was really depressing for me.

I don't plan on giving up - there is no point in that anyway. But anyway, let me list the PROS and CONS six weeks in

PROS:

  • dryness has reduced (i think 2 weeks after amping up the dosage, dryness finally settles - will ramp up to 1.5 pumps this weekend)
  • forehead and cheeks are doing exceptionally well with a clogged pore here and there that goes away in days
  • The Regimen fits into my routine flawlessly
  • itching on my neck has decreased

CONS:

  • Getting horrendous, continuous breakouts on my chin and around my mouth area - no pus - ever - just red, inflammed acne that unfortunately for me itches and it comes in CLUSTERS. As soon as one area heals up, BAM, another area breaks out
  • Area with acne is always red and stands out against my pale skin

Ahhh - i guess i will just need to soldier on. Hope my other team members are fairing much better

Hope your luck picks up Hun! Sounds like the chin and mouth area acne is painful!! I'm sorry. I'm sure your skin is going to get with the program soon!! Still sounds to me like your acne is hormonal. Adding spiro could be your answer. I feel like I'm a spiro pusher lol but I think it would help because your acne the way you are describing it screams hormonal. I would understand not wanting to add anything else because then you never know what was actually helping. But anyways. I just wanted to stop by and show my support for you! Hang in there!

:( could it be something that's breaking you out? For me I think it was the exfoliator, but at 7 weeks I think you should def be seeing a little more improvements. Is your acne drying up at all?

I'm not doing any better myself but let's keep pushing! :)

I am seeing great improvement in the top half of my face but not the lower half. The pimples below clear and then i break out in another spot. Some people say it took them anywhere from 3-5 months to stop breaking out so i hope that is my case versus The Regimen not working for me. I don't think my acne is hormonal as it relates to my period as i break out all the time. I guess it may just be a matter of needing to give it more time as this chin issue surfaced about 2 weeks ago. I'm not going to change my product yet and i just purchased more BP, cleanser and AHA (which i will use once these breakouts calm)

Will keep you posted

Hey Sasch!

I know it is very hard, and extremely discouraging, I know exactly how you feel! The good thing is that now you are getting really close to starting to see major improvement. The Regiment works miraculously well, I am a strong believer now! I went from having awful, painful, itchy cysts all over to just couple of tiny bumps, that go away before I know it (and I'm only 2.5 months into it!). It's amazing! I also think that the AHA really helped too. I started using it as a spot treatment while I was still breaking out quite a bit. As the skin started to calm down, I started using more and more of it. The hardest part was to push through the burning sensation right after you apply it in the beginning. So may be it would be worth trying to incorporate the AHA now?

Hang in there, you are gonna start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel... SOON! :)

Momma, i am so so happy that you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I know you've had a really rough go of it. Things are calming down but i am trying not to get too complacent as things tend to cycle for me (good, bad, good, bad). When my AHA comes, i will give it a try below my jaw as i have quite a few smaller clusters of bumps that have been there for a while and if thing have to flare, i'd rather it be there than anywhere else. Thanks for stopping by. The support means the world to me.

Day # 44 Week 7

So on a personal note, i went out yesterday and had such an awesome day! Had breakfast with my favorite person in the world, took myself to go see The Purge and ONLY paid $5 and then met up with a friend to chill. i am never that spontaneous but it felt damn good. Now on to teh skin update. On Friday evening, i increased my BP to 1.5 pumps and my skin is once again dry and flaky. i've figured out that it takes about 2 weeks for my skin to not be so flaky and dry so i just have to keep at it. I don't plan to do 2 pumps anytime soon so. Acne wise, My chin is better, less bumpy. Cheeks and forhead are doing awesome and under my jaw still has those pesky bumps but overall things are headed in the right direction. Let's see what surprises this week brings as i slowly crawl to the 2 month mark.

Keep your heads up regimen buddies.

Day 46 (week 7)

So i got a bit of reprieve from my chin acne for Sat, Sun and Monday. Today my face decided to rebel and i am breaking out in small red bumps on my chin/mouth and boy do they itch (especially the left side). I increased my BP on Friday to 1.5 pumps so maybe this has something to d with it.....Bummer. My AHA came yesterday and i used it on my jawline. i will continue to use it every 2-3 days mixed with my moisturizer for a few weeks to see if it helps with those stubborn bumps. My chin acne is still going strong so i won't be using it on my general face anytime soon. Overall, i can ay definitively that the Regimen works for me and has done wonders with my cheek and forehead acne (virtually clear). My chin and under my jaw has been more resistant so the jury is out as to whether this system works on truly stubborn acne. Still keeping hope though.

Flagg, The Purge was decent. Not great by any stretch of the imagination but not bad at all. Definitely creepy though

Month 2: Day 50 : Week 8

2 month in and i am so proud of myself for not giving up! It's been a rough road but i am happy to say that things have been getting better. Forehead is consistently clear, cheeks are consistently clear, chin still struggles but big bumps come and go -smaller bumps seem to be an issue and my jawline seems to have smaller bumps that are not visible unless i lift my neck up. There are more of them but they are smaller.

I am using AHA undilluted in that area so we will see if that makes a difference. I won't use it on the rest of my face until later in the summer when my breakouts on my chin are not so often and so bad.

Overall, this regimen has been one of the better ones i've been on so i am excited to see where this next month takes me.

Things that have been an issue for me is the itchiness and flakiness. Now that i've decied to stick to 1.5 pumps for a while, i hope my skin will get use to it. Also i had another itchiness attack on my neck that left it red for a while and broken capillaries from me itching. The thing is, i don't put BP or Moisturizer there so not sure if this is lingering effects of my accutane usage as that was the only other time i experienced that. Taking a benadryl usually helps. In any event, i am prepared to keep on keeping on with the Regimen as i just purchased a fresh supply of cleanser and BP. Anyway, here's to another month down.

Special shout out to my Regimen peeps that make this journey manageable.

Even though I'm not on the regimen I also just started using Dans Aha. I am really liking it. Spot treating with it seems to stop ance in its tracks which is pretty cool. I'm also mixing 50/50 with my moisturizer at night. Smooths out the skin really nicely and I am hoping to see my red marks fade away too. Mine are stubborn! Anyways sounds like things are going well for you sasch! Much better than the accutane course went right! Congrats!

I have also tried jojoba oil twice before, and both times I had to discontinue due to my acne worsening. But, I now use Dr Hauscka balancing day oil and no major issues. BP just irritated and dried out my skin, and bleached everything my face came in contact with, so no thankyou.

I'm still doing the Paleo thing, 5 weeks in, nothing major to report, even though my skin is less oily, but I do still get break-outs regardless.

I guess The Regimen is better for me than accutane in that when i break out, it is in expected area unlike accutane where i would jst break out all over the damn place. Two months is still early though so i'll wait till the 3-4 month mark to see if this was an overall success. Glad that you like AHA. I am weary about using it as yet as i am still getting significant acne.

Lilo, congrats on being deligent with your regimen. BP is not for everyone and i wold be lying if i said i didn't come with its issue but so far, its been helping me so i'm gonna plough on threw. I threw in the towel with Paelo as it never helped me. it has however made me conscious of eating less grains so thats good.

Good Luck

Your acne is so presistant it is crazy! Atleast your breakouts are in a expected area like you said. I remember when I was in tane I broke out in places that I never have before it was terrible. Also the weird thing is my acne now that I get is in the places where I broke out on accutane. That medication was a waste of my time. Oh well. I'm hoping that the regimen controls your acne soon! That would be great, you deserve a break and a regimen that works for you. I'm not sure exactly how the regimen works but I have read enough about it that I have a good idea. Could you use heavier BP on you chin jaw area to control that acne and then regular use of BP everywhere else? Maybe you just need a little more BP ya know.

Persistant acne has always been the bane of my existance! I really hope this Regimen is it for me too - it's been too many years of searching. I definitely use more BP on my chin but i guess we'll have to wait and see. I guess i am comforted by the fact that many users can still breakout into month 3 or 4. Thanks for your continuous support, it is appreciated.

I heard you about accutane. it has let me down too and it sucks. Hoping that in a few years there are better treatments for this wretched disease
