A Couple That Made My Day

19 posts in this topic

Just thought this needed a separate topic...

I was in line to get sushi and there was this couple in front of me. The girl had acne all over her cheeks and did not cover them with makeup (I WISH I HAD HER GUTS). Her boyfriend was this really good-looking guy with crystal clear skin. The way he was looking at her and engaging with her just melted my heart. Maybe God is throwing these signs at me so I would not be so insecure about myself. This interaction just made my day. It put a huge smile on my face (even they noticed me smiling but i turned away ...did not want them to think i was crazy :P).

Moral of the story: people do appreciate your inner beauty and there are people out there who are not shallow!

Thank you for reading :)!

Awesome story, thanks for sharing! I think we can all learn something from both the boyfriend and the girlfriend in this case.

This is why I wanted to share :). It really is an awesome story, I agree. Not to mention that it is the real story, hehe, not some hypothetical!

Wow~ This actually reminds me of a couple in my high school. But this time, it's the guy with full acne & the girl with crystal-clear skin.

I can totally see that they're happy with each other.

It's nice to know that these kind of people do existsmile.png

Stories like this definitely inspire hope! I remember awhile ago when I was working at a casino I saw a young couple come in, a really pretty blonde girl and her boyfriend who had really severe acne on his cheeks. She seemed so supportive of him, was holding his hand and treating him like he was the only person in the whole casino. I think we all see situations like that and we think to ourselves "Maybe that will be possible for me someday too" :)

People are just insecure on what they can see. Just don't mind them for the fact you don't cause any harm to them.

Very inspiring story though. Inner beauty should be the core of any relationship as it can last long compare to appearance.

Great story. I sometimes think we are so focused on our own acne that we project our own insecurity onto others. They don't fixate on it like we do, and they can look past it.

My boyfriend doesn't care at all, of how my face looks. He kisses me and holds my cheeks as if I had clear skin, totally seeying through the imperfections. The only case he says something about my acne is when I myself bring it up, complain, and turn my face away.

I saw at least four or five couples today with either the man or women having acne pherhpas a bit worse than mine in some cases. I dont think its a major deal breaker for MOST people i think it is for some people yes. But I wouldnt want to go out with someone who demands me to be physcially perfect. Cos whats the point? I wouldnt achieve that ideal and that view of life isnt for me. I jsut want to be comfortable for myself not for someone else. Human beings arnt as bad as you think I think too many people on this site including myself have been ground down by negative and obsessive thourghts whihc are slightly different to reality.

Ladies and gents, I just want to say that there is a reason(s) that individuals with clear skin fall for us. So we should not feel surprised or shocked that this happens... it is meant to be because they fall for our beautiful features and personalities! xo! :)

My classmate happens to have acne all over his cheeks but despite that, his girlfriend is just so smokin that she has the potential to become a model! As far as I know, they've been going out for 3 years now.

Looking around my uni campus and local shopping centers I see couples where one partner has severe acne/scarring and the other clear skin quite often.

Just the other day I saw a slightly overweight guy with very severe acne scarring (worse than mine, which is really quite something) being kissed by his beautiful model-esque girlfriend and they were holding each other and staring intimately into each others eyes... it's quite motivational and inspiring actually.. if he can do it i can too. there are nice people out there who can look past flaws.

It's all about building confidence and trying to see the positive side, people are often not staring at us as much as we think (i never used to notice people's skin until i got acne for example) i used to be a bit self-conscious about a noticeable keloid scar on my neck (not acne-induced) for example i thought it was embarrassing. One day a guy i met asked 'hey man, what happened to your neck?' i was like oh well you see I got into a knife fight and this is excess scar tissue' Then he said 'haha, so what really happened?' me: 'oh i had an operation and this is called a keloid scar which is excess scar growth, if they cut it out they often grow back' and he's like 'oh nah man it looks cool, different, makes you look unique and adds character and keep the first story about how you got it' another time a girl said 'hey that scar makes you look tough' I know this is off topic but it helped me overcome an insecurity.
