Heres some background, Im 17 female 127 lbs, moderate/severe oily tzone/dry cheeks, first round on accutane (clarus) 40mg 3 months. Im taking my first pill tomorrow after my blood donation (wanted to do it on the last day of the year hehe). since I hit puberty i was struck with acne. first when i was 13 it was not bad, typical clogged pores from not washing my face. hit 14 and it got real nasty and infected on my back and face, ew, and at that age i didnt care about anything, including my skin. Mom made me go to the doc, i tried differin, minocycline, <-- tetracycline? and bp and sacid. When I turned sixteen i tried more natural approaches, spices, aloe plants etc, and of course expensive washes and toners. I also got microdermabrasion and extraction treatments once a month but it was too expensive (although it worked pretty well) and started birth control (yaz then ortho tri cyclen) Everything i tried i would be healing for a week with only a couple new zits, it would always come back big time with nasty nodules. I decided enough was enough when a couple weeks ago my back and face broke out in cysts, to the point where i couldnt sleep on my back or side
ran to my doctor, we both mutually decided this was the end of trying small new things, and starting accutane. im terrified but at this point im done with suffering and embarrassment (i cant leave the house without foundation) and i want to be clear for graduation this coming may. I've always been so self concious of my face (even though i have alot of confidence with makeup on around others ) , and although i have a boyfriend i don't want him to see me in the daylight. After my treatment i plan on getting chemical peels and microderm to help with post acne scars. Currently my skin is moderately dry and flaky from the dry spell this winter, i hate flakes more than oil too
