2 days ago I had a bump on the side of my nose so I loaded the area with Epiduo (benzoyl peroxide and adapalene). The next morning, the skin in that area had become very dry, weathery looking, and a little red. That night I put a lot of Aquaphor on it and went to bed. This morning, I noticed some skin slough off when I washed it but it's still dry/red/leathery looking. It is not flaky, or even cracking really. It feels tight on my face, and looks 'shiny'.

Here's a picture: http://i47.tinypic.com/r938mw.jpg
The area is on the side of my nose, not on the crease of the nostril but above that (though the crease of the nostril is dry/red too).

How can I fix this? Is this permanent?

It's hardly noticeable. Your skin looks amazing and I like your eyelashes.

Thank you, that's very kind.

Part of the leathery-dry part flaked off last night in the shower and now it looks pink/red...like tender, new skin.
Is this normal, and how long will it take to heal? It's almost like the skin that would be underneath a scab.

It flaked off naturally and you didn't rub it off or anything right? That should indicate the skin has already healed under the dry part/scab. I think your skin looks fine according to the picture unless it's not clear enough.

If all else fails, you can always pay a visit to your general MD or a dermatologist. If you ask anyone else in person, they could also give you an idea. To me, it looks fine and perfectly normal.

It did flake off naturally for the most part, I mean I rubbed my face in the shower like I usually do to cleanse and some of the skin just sloughed off. The sloughed off area looks pinker/redder and is still slightly tight/dry. The picture is not very clear...in real life you can clearly see the red spot, looks like an abrasion or a bad sunburn almost.

I can't see a derm unfortunately because I'm at school and have no way of getting to one. I've asked my parents since they're visiting this weekend and they think it will heal up in about a week, but I'm just worried. :(
