Hi, Im new to the forum so I hope Im doing this right. Here's a little intro to my skin and regimen. Im a 24 year old female and for the last 3 years or so my acne and weight have been slowly increasing, I have been to the doctor and apparently there is no reason for it besides I must not be eating healthy and exercising enough (even though I do Posted Image ) I have tried so many different things on my face and nothing works, everything from cheaper drug store things like clearisil to expensive products from Sephora, Ive tried natural/organic things, salicylic acid things, benzyl peroxide things, nothing seems to work so I finally went to the dermatologist. This is what i have now been doing for about a month: using Cetaphil face wash twice daily and putting prescription Epiduo on after washing, using Panoxyl-8 on my shoulders back and chest, and was on 80mg solodyn for about 2 weeks until I starting breaking out in hives from it, currently Im no longer on an antibiotic but in about 2 weeks she is going to start me on erythromycin.

I have read that cetaphil may not be as good for your skin as it claims and I would like to find a good alternative, something good and plain that would be good for my skin. When I wash with the Cetaphil it even burns a little. I'm lost on what else to try especially because it does not seem like what Im using is making much of a difference for me. I have a Wedding at the end of September and I really dont want to have embarrassing acne all over for it.Posted Image

Ask your derm about sulfur/sodium sulfacetamide cleansers (prescription). I use a gentle wash twice daily (Dickinson's Foaming Facial Wash, morning/evening) and the sulfur cleanser once daily (Prascion, evening). Am also on doxycycline, 50mg twice daily. First time my skin has been clear in 30 years.

I switched to the Dickinson's wash about a week ago and really like it so far. Feels light, non-irritating, and good at oil control without over-drying. Previously used Purpose Gentle Cleanser. It was close, but there was something in it that irritated me just a little. I have tried Cetaphil cleansers before but not liked them. They were creamy, hard to rinse off, clogged my skin, and broke me out (smelled like cheap cologne too). My skin is somewhat oily, hyper-sensitive, and prone to mild acne. Good luck and hope you come up with a routine that works for you.
