He seems to review everything BUT this brand and yet its the one brand I see in most dermatological offices.

I use the hydrating cleanser and its great. It seems like it would fit the regimen perfectly.

I've wondered the same thing myself. I only discovered CeraVe after switching dermatologists, my last one only suggested Cetaphil which made my skin dry and tight..and I always broke out. CeraVe has been a God send in terms of cleansers.. it's moisturizing and prevents breakouts in my experience. I will never go back to anything else ever again (unless a cute is discovered, but I'm not holding my breath). You bring up a great question.

My personal experience with Cerave is a bad one, it breaks me out every time I use the lotion. I think it is the mixture of Cetearyl Alcohol + Ceteareth 20, which is supposed to be pore clogging according to the rabbit ear assays. I can use it for about a week, but then I always get cysts and clogging pores. I have tried it on and off for a while, and it never fails to break me out. I personally love dan's moisturizer, and I also love Olay spf 15 for sensitive skin with added jojoba oil.'


However, I have never had terrible results from the hydrating cleanser, and I bet it would work well to curb some of the irritation of BP.

The CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and the Foaming Cleanser DO NOT contain Ceteareth 20. The Moisturizing Cream does, however.

I have not had a problem with their cleansers. I haven't used the moisturizing cream consistently enough to say whether its one "high" comedogenic ingredient (ceteareth 20) causes problems.

Probably because cerave has "Ceteareth 20 and Cetearyl Alcohol" as the third ingredient which is pretty bad. Not only is it like number 4 or 5 (5=worst) on the comedogenic scale, it's also the third ingredient... How can you use it if you're acne prone?

Also, some people can use the foaming cleanser and some can't. I can't. It broke me out.

I've not ever used the cleanser but I read quite a lot of comments on this site about Cerave moisturiser and I was intrigued enough to order it online for a princely cost of $38 (as its not available in Australia). I put it on after my usual regimen routine of applying BP and went to bed. When I woke up my forehead, cheeks and chin were covered in blocked pores. Literally overnight it played havoc on my face, so it was back to Dan's moisturiser. It took 2 weeks before I was clear again.

It was a shame though because I really liked the texture and moisurising quality of the lotion but based on my experience I would never recommend it to anyone with acne prone skin. There are people on this site who swear by it, although I'm not sure to what level they remain acne free. Now it acts as expensive leg moisturiser and I'm happy to say that I've not broken out on my legs at all!
