Ok i will keep this short and will try to get a picture up eventually since my situation seems pretty weird; I spent alot of time forum searching to no avail.
I recently started getting visible scars about 6months ago when i broke out in nodulocystic acne (previously I only had scarred pores and unnoticible ice picks and superficial rolling scars...even in harsh lights).
Fastforward till now, I have moderate scarring on my face.....but my main issue is with this HUGE hideous boxcar scar on my right cheek on the tip of my cheek bone from a previous cyst that was the size of a penny. The scar left behind is so hideous it is about the size of half the circumfrance of a dime. (I developed this scar about 2 1/2 months ago...the same time I started accutane which i am currently on)
My point is that in the past week parts of this huge red scar are developing raised normal colored patches of regular skin!! I have noticed 3 patches so far about the size of a pencil tip forming within the scar that seem to be seperating this huge scar into smaller holes by creating bridges by slowly attaching to each other (or so it seems, if this makes sense). I am EXCITED about this new development but would like some advice on how/what I should do to encourage this process. So far in the past week all that I have changed in my routine was useing aloe vera gel every other day. I don't know if this has an effect but should i continue to do this? is there anything else I should do? I have read a few threads about this "bridging" of healing skin filling in scars of people who had laser treatments and i was wondering if I should try a similar healing methond such people use as well (what do they use? aquaphor? consider that I am on accutane however....)
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe you should look for ways to boost your collagen. I've got a few new (mildish) scars this year, and I've been adding hyaluric acid serum on them every night. I also try not to scrub the area when I wash my face, and avoid touching it altogether, because new collagen is extremely frail (according to acne.org message boards at least
). I also take about a spoonful of collagen powder with vitamin C once a day, and in the mornings I add this BM regenerative cream on them, which is supposed to help with wrinkles and possibly scars too. I don't know if it actually works.
But anyway, I think those scars have improved as a result. They're still in that early phase when they're remodeling and with the right procedures, you might be able to improve them quite a bit (or so I hope). Worth a try, anyway. Good luck!
And I'd be interested to know if anyone else has tips on improving new scars.

i apply aloe vera gel to my scars and i also notice a diffference. since your on accutane its a bit tricky. if i was you i would make sure you live a healthy life style eat good, drink lots of water and get rest it will aid in collagen production. eating alot of carrots can also do wonders.

Keep it moist. If you're a spending man or woman, you can get vitamin C serum to help boost collagen production, but it's not guarantee of progress.

Thanks all for the advice!
I have been taking vitamen C, high doses everyday (probably about 2,500 mg a day). I will add a collagen powder to the mix. It cant hurt...
Also, I will continue to use aloe vera and try to keep the scar moist with some neosporin until i decide if I want to try a vitamen c serum...but I dont want to do too much (using aloe vera, neosporin, and this spf moisturizer I use in the daytime seems like alot already on one scar). My accutane is finally kicking in and I am getting milder breakouts so hopefully the neosporin will be fine...
I can only hope this filling in happens to the rest of my scars!

Ingesting large doses of vitamin C doesn't do anything for the skin, since your body has systems that redistributes vitamin C across the entire body and because it can only absorb so much vitamin C every few hours.
When you apply it topically, though, you directly bypass these systems so it goes straight to the skin that needs it.
The problem is that 1. vitamin C serum is very expensive and 2. goes bad very quickly, it'll last a few months at most in a glass vial.
