HI! I just ordered the Regimen Kit and i'll probably start using it in a week. However, I'll be in America at that time and meet a lot of people. I wouldn't dare to meet them without the makeup on. But I heard that the regimen drys the hell out of people and it's impossible to wear makeup. What should i do? Any recommendations?

I found it very difficult to wear in the beginning... I think i used a creamy foundation (but not liquid) and it was wearable (maybelline dream mousse, i believe??). I also stippled it on so it was fairly gentle. Be careful not to rub your face too hard with a makeup brush or anything, because that will really burn! Jojoba oil was also a godsend in the first months to stop the flakiness.

Start the regimen VERY slowly! For your trip to America consider using a particulary small amount of bp and large amounts of moisturizer... Makeup over hydrated skin with acne looks much better than makeup over dry skin, in my opinion anyway!

I am able to wear makeup over the regimen but it took me a while to get it right. My first tip would be to make sure you rub in your moisturizer ( or anything else you are wearing under your base such as sunscreen) really well. I apply a lot to make sure my skin is well moistursed and work it into the skin well to smooth down any dry skin. when I apply foundation I agree with the point of using a stippling motion or just pressing the foundation into your skin with fingertips. Try not to swipe and move the foundation around as that will just emphasize any dryness. The same goes for powders. Try pressing powders into skin, if you swirl powders onto your skin the fibers will get caught onto any dryness and agian just emphasis it.

Wearing makeup isn't impossible while on the regime it's just about the right techniques and products. I have been on the regime for a while now and its getting easier for me to wear makeup as my skin is getting less dry and I get more practice! Good luck and have a great trip!!

I've always worn makeup even from day 1. Here's our makeup advice.

Not every foundation will work well with topical acne meds, so use the guidelines above to choose your cosmetics.

I found mixing some moisuriser into my foundation helped too. It reduced the level of coverage but the lighter texture sat better on my skin while it was dry in the early weeks of starting the regimen. But to be honest, even though I have worn makeup all my life, it didnt take me long to get used to not wearing foundation on a daily basis. And of course this got easier each week as my skin got clearer.

Thank you! Did you use jojoba oil right at the beginning?

Yeah i think i'm going to buy that one. Does it look cakey on you? Does it break you out?

I think you shoudl definitely stay away form the liquid foundations because while you are going to be dry and flaky it ill look like a dessert on your face. Soooo to fix this a little you should use mineral powder makeup! I looks way better than any liquid foundation. Other than that you are going to have to wait a few weeks until your skin gets used ot the BP. :)

Best of Luck to you :)

Yeah I heard it's pretty hard to pick the right shade with that foundation. But I'm gonna buy it anyway. Hopefully it has enough coverage.

Thank you! Well my sister said the same thing as well. But I heard that mineral powders have very light coverage, and i seriously need something to high my severe red marks and pimples. Also, which brand of mineral powders is best for acne?

Wel actually the with minerals the more that you put on the more coverage you get. I have a really great brand that will cover up everything. I have severe acne ( you can check my gallery if you would like) and it covers everything! It is a mineral makeup but it is in he form of a pressed powder. I even has concealor built into it which I think gives that great coverage I think you are looking for. Also, they are made for sensitive and acne prone skin so that is a plus! It is called Pur Minerals! Check it out. Also other people like Bare Esentials. Pur Minerals is much better in my opinion and has great great great coverage!

I hope that I helped :)
Have a wonderful day missy!

Powder foundations will exacerbate any dryness or flakiness you may have. If dryness is the issue, I'd steer clear of powder/mineral foundations. I'd recommend using a foundation specified for dry skin types like Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation.

oh no i meant like the almay stuff was a better shade for my skin! i was really worried when i first opened it because it comes out this ugly greyish color but when you put it on it blends in with your skin! pretty cool, right? yeah. :D haha and it has pretty good coverage, but if theres like a super red zit or an extra dark PIH spot ill use coverup for those, and for under my eyes which are really dark for some reason. no matter how much sleep i get, they dont go away! :P ive had them since i was a little kid. anyways, yeah. ***i dont use almay anymore though, because they like stopped selling my usual shade or something, i cant find it anywhere!
