I'd Like To Thank Whitefox. I Am Clear.

4 months of paleo, 1 month of probiotics. Acne is mostly a digestive inflammatory problem. Please check out White fox's thread if you really want to get clear and dont want an overnight fix. I'd like to to thank him for taking the time to come back and help the community even after he was clear, a very rare trait.

That's awesome. So are you now able to eat whatever junk food you like without breaking out?

Congrats! Are you ever going back to eating grains again or are you going to stay on paleo for a lot longer?

18 years old, acne sufferer for 5 years, both of my parents had acne into their 20s, many of my family members had acne, but not nearly as bad as mine.

What I currently use:

Cleanser: Basis Sensitive Skin Bar

Treatment: Acne.org 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide

Sunscreen (only during the day): Neutrogena Clear Face SPF 30 Sunblock

was the 1 month of probiotics after the 4 months of paleo or during? also, when did you see noticeable improvement after the paleo diet? I've been on it for 3 days and need some encouragement. i will check out whitefox's thread now.

also, how much do you attribute probiotics to clearing your skin? I want to go on probiotics but I always breakout when I do, even for extended periods of time.

Very cool. Anything change for your topical approach to acne?

80%-20% Alkaline forming vs Acid forming Diet

`Organic~
I don't consume:
*Dairy
*Whole grains
*Refined sugars
*Table salt
*Vegetable oils
*Processed/Fast foods
*Genetically Modified Foods (GMOs)
As well as the pesticides/herbicides that come with them

My philosophy: Less externally, more internally

Even taking long hot showers in chemically treated tap water is too harsh for acne prone skin

(And that's without a face wash)

This site is absolutely loaded with info on curing acne internally

I don't think paleo is a cure, it does help but doesnt fix it completely.

I think the probiotics could be the actual fix, because it fixes the gut, while the paleo diet just helps it.

I've been doing paleo for ages and acne has improved but not completely disappeared, but now I'm gonna try the kefir grains i received. I'm hoping this is the "cure".

Go paleo!

Current Skin-Care Regimen (A work in progress):

Morning:

Gentle wash with DKR cleanser

Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% (Following Dan's Regimen)

DKR Lotion + A squirt of Argan or Grapeseed oil (The lotion alone wasn't hydrating enough)

Skin 79 Korean BB Cream (excellent stuff)

Evening:

Gentle Wash with DKR Cleanser

Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% (Following Dan's Regimen)

DKR Lotion + A squirt of Argan or Grapeseed oil

It isn't a cure because there's no such thing. And because it might not address all of your personal issues. But many people experience clear skin from diet changes like paleo that cut the refined carbs and industrial fats and other crap while increasing nutrient content.

Status: Clear after 30 years. Wow, I guess it's been 6 years, now.

[ Story: Severe Acne since I was 10. 10+ years of Dermatologists, Antibiotics, topicals and ACCUTANE did nothing. Discovered oranges triggered the worst of my cystic acne = about 70% improvement. Tried some nutrient supplements like B-complex with zinc and C, saw palmetto and a BHA like the aspirin mask = more improvement, a lot less oily. Then, Diet changes = Clear.

Regimen: Anti-inflammatory, nutrient dense, blood sugar stabilizing diet and supplements (for hormones, inflammation, aging, health). No soap or other cleanser except for hand washing! Water only or Oil cleanse. Aloe Vera mixed with niacinimide and a high linoleic acid oil for moisturizer and reduce pigmentation.

Diet effects acne in so many ways: hormone balance, inflammation, Insulin levels, digestion, allergies and intolerances, liver function, adrenal function, SHBG levels, sebum quality, cell function and turnover, nutrient deficiencies, body fat, etc. Basic advice: Eat, sleep, supplement and exercise like you are a diabetic. And eat real food!

I have to work soon but I'll try n reply to most of you. I plan on staying paleo as long as I can, and the probiotics were added just this month. And @onefatalgoose I've never used topicals, because I feel like its just covering up and underlying problem, I'd rather see what my body wants to tell me, know if I'm doing it right or doing it wrong.

@joner i think probiotics are equally as important as a good diet

I would like to know what kind of probiotics you are taking, actually I am taking Swiss natural probiotic (7 billion C.F.U) once a day and I'm thinking about going for twice probiotics/day with 2 different brands.

I pay them 23 bucks for 30 pills, not sure if cheap or too expensive!
