hey everyone

Ive got pretty bad chest and back acne, Ive had it mild moderate for a number of hears and voer the last 6 months its got a lot worse. Ive been on and off anti biotics for around 5-6 years. Maxiumum ive stayed on one type has been aroun 12 months and ive had massive breaks in between regimes.

Basically ive been to my doctors and they have given me three options:

1. Use antibiotics

However They havent really done that much before, to be fair it has made it better in the past. However the downside is a lot of people state that it tremendously harms your body over a long period of time? Im considering going back on them as id rather have a clear body to be fiar, and i dont quite know the risks or if it is as bad as everyone makes out?

2. Go on roaccutane

I dont really consider it bad enough to go on a drug with so many side effects, I need to read up on it more but it seems it is worse than antibiotics

3. Continue using topical treatments

I could just use topical treatments and hope it gets better.

Basically I would go back on antibiotics, but icve heard once you come off them again it flares up even worse and you are damagin your body a lot in the long run.In a bit of a quandry, let me know whats everyones opinions.

Thanks in advance

what kind of topicals have you tried?

have you tried Dan's body regimen?

I used to use 10%BP on my back and it helped heal the ones I had, but it really didn't prevent them too much because it dried the crap out of my skin and would cause more. for me, my cure is Dan's AHA+.

here is my routine:
morning- clean chest and upper arms with clearasil daily cleansing pads. get a shower. while in shower, i wash my back last (then face) so that no shampoo or conditioner runs down my body. i wash with dial gold bar antibacterial soap. (i use a loofa) then i towel dry off (with a clean towel. i retire my towel every 3 uses) then i apply Dan's AHA+ all over my entire back and upper arms. then clean and clear dual action moisturizer on my chest because the AHA+ is a little strong for that area.

night- repeat everything.

if you want to clear it up you have to cleanse twice a day to remove the crud from the day.

i never wear a shirt twice. unless i wear a shirt for an hour or something, it goes in the hamper. i wear a fresh bra every day. if you're a girl, switching to cotton bras helps. make sure your sheets are clean. don't use fabric softener! check the soap you're using on your body. if it's "moisturizing" and has some good scent, it's probably clogging your pores.

so i would suggest trying dan's body regimen, or if your acne isn't so so severe, you could try just the AHA+ which is nice because it doesn't bleach anything, and it's very moisturizing so you don't have to deal with peeling skin. I had cystic acne on my back so I strongly recommend it =)

Yeah ive tried sudocrem and the body regimen, haven't really tried aha though to be fair I might give it a go.

After looking int accutane im deciding to give it a miss.

I think I may start antibiotics as it has always helped somewhat im just curious about the side effects

i'm currently on antibiotics for my face. starting accutane in 27 days!

but just remember, antibiotics may work for a while, but eventually your doc is going to make you stop taking them.

yo, i recommend AGAINST antibiotics. i just came off a course of antibiotics and now I have cystic chest acne that wasn't there prior to taking them. I've read a few other cases on this forum of people having the same reaction, most notably this guy:
