Differin Gel (0.1%) To Fade Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (Pih)

I am currently on Differin gel to help clear clogged pores, tiny zits, inflammations etc. but I still do have moderate acne scarring from past acne. I have a question does differin gel help fade PIH or would I need to exfoliate myself? Can someone please help me...
