I've never had particular terrible acne. I realize that there are many people less fortunate than me, but I still have enough pimples that I wanted to go to the dermatologist. He prescribed me Minocycline along with a higher dosage Benzoyl Peroxide cream.
I googled Minocycline a bit and saw that it was supposed to get worse before it gets better, but I started taking the pills (100 mg twice a day) and for the first week it seemed fine. Then, however, right after the first week ended (yesterday), I started breaking out much more. Today, I broke out even more and honestly my acne is probably the worst it's ever been.
Now supposedly this is an effect of the Minocycline, in that it is effectively purging my skin and pushing all the old bacteria out to the front.
What I really would like to know is how long is this going to take (an ETA)? I'm prepared to suffer through this purging but I really would feel comforted knowing the estimated length of time required to entirely cleanse my skin. I pray it isn't going to be a month worth of acne of this caliber.
