I feel your frustration. I am experiencing something similar with cysts popping up (not the norm for me at all). It makes me feel so sad too. Accutane is no longer an option for me (been on it 3 times already and developed long term complications) and i am trying the natural route. Acne is getting worse day by day (stopped my topicals almost a month now and experiencing really bad breakouts).

Good Luck with your accutane course and try to not focus on the waiting period. It will be here before you know it.

thanks for the reply!
cysts are rare for me too. ever since i quit using topicals, my skin has been freaking out. it's never looked like this in my life. it's devastating. but everyone knows that on here.

what were your long term complications on accutane? i am afraid to take it, but i'm just done trying to fight this. i've tried everything. i even went water only, and to be honest, i think that's what seriously f'd up my face.

i developed pre-diabetes, something that was not an issue for me before. It also exasperated my depression and i now suffer from extreme anxiety (something that developed before the acne returned).

It is a serious drug so take care of your body while on it.

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with that, I know how much of a pain it can be. My advice would be try and draw strength from your husband or boyfriend (the guy in your avatar) because that really helps and it's great if you have a supportive person in your life. Most of us guys on this website aren't even in relationships because of our skin...and trust me, it sucks.

thank you. yea i am very lucky to have a very supportive family and boyfriend. he has been so good to me through all of this. i ask him all the time how he can even look at me. and he tells me he doesn't love me for the way i look but for who i am and that he looks past the acne and knows it will go away.
i've heard stories of people on this website meeting in real life and starting relationships. i think that's really neat. if both of you are dealing with this, you have less to worry about and can focus on what matters. not everyone out there is as judgmental as we think. (look at me giving this advice but i don't buy it) but there is someone out there for everyone, and you will find her. and she won't care about some pimples. she'll care about you! i know if i reversed roles and it was my boyfriend with acne, i would be 100% supportive and never look at him differently. i can say that when i see someone in public with acne, my heart goes out to them because i know exactly how they feel.

Hello :) I know exactly what you're going through. Most people don't understand the real struggle that something so superficial can cause for people. I really really advice you not to put something as dangerous as accutane on your body, it's not worth it. I can safely say my acne was just like yours, I had cysts all over my chin and forehead with a few pimples on my cheeks and I'd seriously cry over the pain, because after a while I was more frustrated with the pain than anything else. I tried two things that have basically cleared my skin. The first was Lerossett Clay Mask. I'd never thought it'd work and I was so tired of wasting so much money on my skin. But my mom always trying to help me out with this torment bought it. I can honestly say it was my cure. It sounds like an infomercial and I'm really trying for it not to lol. In less than a week the change was amazing. All my huge cysts were gone and even my hyper pigmentation looked better. No more pain, I was basically clear. Seeing as that mask can get pretty expensive (applying twice a day it lasts like 3 weeks or less for $34) so I stopped it. I saw that one of the ingredients (only has two ingredients) was Rasul clay, so I bought some off of eBay. But it didn't work and all my acne was coming back. Thank God it was summer and I didn't have to show my skin at school. Anyway, summer was ending and I still looked like a mess, so I bought it again. It literally ( I counted!) took me 11 days for it all to go away, I don't even know how to explain it. Another thing that really helped me was calamine lotion, which you can buy anywhere and it helps the more stubborn pimples. I was on this website diligently a few years ago and it really helped me and always looking at these boards with people suffering they deserved to know that at least something worked for me, and it might work for a lot of you. Also, I recommend a sugar scrub(gently) about twice a week, you can increase to 3x a week when your skin is healed. And I'd say after 3-4 bottles of the clay you can lower the usage to once a day and save some money.

Btw, if you decide to give the mask a try the coupon I always use for 15% off is 1151. Just be positive and DECLARE that it WILL work for you.
Good luck!

thanks for the reply =)
is this mask anything like a sulfur mask? i've tried 3 and all they seemed to do was make problems worse. they'd bring more zits to the surface that i didn't want coming up yet. and they dried my skin to hell. i have extremely sensitive skin, i can't even use a sugar scrub. not bashing dan's regimen, but ever since i used his stuff, i can't put anything on my face. even dove soap burns my skin, but i still use it. it's ridiculous. right now i'm treating it with nothing. just taking my antibiotic and washing and moisturizing. if i pop one i clean it with some witch hazel, and if i make a mess, i apply aloe from my aloe plant. i will look up this mask online. i do have a long wait for accutane so i don't mind trying something in the meantime. already spent thousands on my skin, what's $34!

just looked it up on amazon. it got 5 stars and great reviews. now i'm curious =P

Haha great :) its not sulfur, thank God. Just when my skin was getting better I tried a sulfur mask and it was chaos. It has two ingredients: Rasul clay and water. Yeah, compared to other things as long as it works for you it is SO worth the money! If you can't use sugar then just use the clay for a while until it heals, and oatmeal as a gentle scrub is great for irritation. Just wet it with water and maybe use it as a mask if your skin is too sensitive.

Hello there, I encourage you to try all options before going on Accutane. You seem to understand it's a serious drug and while I do know people who have had GREAT success with it, they went that route as an absolute last resort. What other products have you used?

I'm happy to hear that you have a supportive boyfriend and family. I would go so far to say that he loves you even with your acne, not despite it, or even sees it anymore I'd say. Love makes imperfections not a big deal, which is good because we all have them.

I am one of those people who met their significant other on here. We are actually engaged now, having been friends for four/five years and in a relationship for a little over two years thus far. I'm a blessed woman.

Hi Kairasa =)

I've actually heard about you on here already =P mainly about you and your bf. congrats!!

I do know accutane is a risky solution...but I have been on everything. I've had this problem since I was 12. So 15 years of acne.I have lost so much time already. My skin has never been as bad as it is now. Everybody is pretty shocked. I have to blame it on quitting benzoyl peroxide, since that was my topical of choice for most of the time. My skin wasn't bad at all when I started dating my boyfriend. So I am a lucky girl that he has stuck with me through this. =)
Thanks for your reply =)

Oh you have? lol. Well sorry for blathering on about it then!

It sounds like you know the decision you are making so I hope you keep us updated on whatever route you decide to take. If you do go on Accutane, a log is always useful for yourself and for others, and can be an encouraging place to share in your journey. Good luck! =)
