hey everyone,
ive been posting alittle bit here and there about spiro for quite some time now. i took 100 mg over the course of a year and my skin cleared, but i got some pretty alarming side effects..constant urinary tract infections, which led to yeast infections, anxiety, extreme dizziness and fatigue..not to mention the panic attacks and uncontrollable moods. after all of my research, ive come to the conclusion that most of these side effects were due to dehydration. i had no idea why i kept getting infections but i read that if you are dehydrated, your body becomes more acidic, and urine becomes more concentrated, making it easier to get bladder infections. i would like to start over fresh and try the medication once more. i would like to start at 25 and eventually stop at 50, but the question is, how to prevent dehydration so i dont get sick? it seems to be a really serious issue for me. no matter how many bottles of water i drink, i cant quench my thirst. i remember waking up in the morning with severe headaches and cotton mouth. i used to have really bad nightmares too. i dont have any other options except this med so i have to try and make it work for me. does anyone have any suggestions on how much water to drink? i was thinking of buying packets of oral rehydration salts that contain sodium and sugar and other electrolytes and taking two packets a day. my endo told me that if i feel dehydrated that i need to supplement with salt because the med causes sodium loss. any advice would be really helpful. thanks again!

Propel Fitness Water might help. It has electrolytes but does not have added potassium (you gotta watch out for most electrolyte drinks on spiro because they can overload the potassium).

I also find that drinking something with some calories in it helps. Dairy is a big no-no for acne, but I drink a lot of natural almond milk and rice milk. Favorite brands are Almond Breeze Vanilla and Rice Dream Vanilla. It quenches my thirst a lot more than plain old water. And the vanilla flavor tastes great.
