So I noticed that when you apply neosporin after a zit is popped, it prevents scabbing. In fact, if the blood has already dried up, applying neosporin seems to liquify the scab resulting in a little bleeding after. In another instance, I had a nodule that became really red on the surface, but did not come to a head yet. I applied Neosporin on it just in case and within an hour, without me even realizing it, the nodule started to ooze out the built up pus.

Now I'm not complaining because in my experience, I tend to scar more easily if there is a scab. Neosporin prevents the scabbing so when I use it, the scarring is less noticeable if at all.

You mean the mechanism itself?

I'm assuming it's mainly because it keeps it moist while working its antibacterial effects. Scabs are only scabs because the blood has dessicated and the platlets have formed into clumps.
