In the past 4-6 months I have been getting more inflamed acne than usual (I am 19). I had moderate acne during the ages 11-17 but after that I was almost completely clear when I was 17/18. I was curious as to why this is? My lifestyle has not changed nor have the products I use on my face. Is it usual for people to relapse after years of little to no acne? My doctor prescribed Doxycycline around 2 months ago but it doesn't seem to be helping. Also although I have fair skin I am getting fairly dark hyperpigmentation from the smallest of spots which I never used to get even on fairly large cystic acne.

Apologies for the ramble, if anyone could suggest why I am getting moderate acne again after around 2 years of (near) clear skin it would be very much appreciated. The products I am using are as follows: Quindoderm (BP 5 per cent), E45 moisturiser and Doxycycline for the past two months.

Thank you.

EDIT: I am male if that makes a difference (a friend said it could be hormonal).

what dosage doxycycline are you taking?

Same thing happened to me, most of my pimples started leaving dark marks (i am brown skin color though) when in prior years they rarely did that.

I'm taking 100mg of Doxycycline daily. Could be something to do with skin healing slower with age? Though mine seemed to come on rapidly so I'm not quite sure.

Are you taking Doxycycline hyclate? Thats what Im taking. I take 200 MG a day. Im almost at a month and I cant say its done much either. Personally for me, I feel my skin doesnt heal as quickly as it did when I was 19 and 20. Im now almost 23.

Yeah Doxycycline hyclate, hm if 200mg isn't doing much for you I'll probably go back to doctor soon as it's been well over a month and if anything things have worsened.

Any chance that you're living away from home and your diet isn't as healthy?
