Any thoughts on this?
I always heard regular washcloths are very bad for exfoliating because they are rough and cause micro tears in your skin, but then on a Google search I found that a lot of people use microfiber towels for exfoliating. Kinda makes sense considering regular towels scratch a car but microfiber towels don't.
I decided to try it and wow, it exfoliates nicely. I was using a baby brush type brush for exfoliating before this, but the microfiber actually felt less irritating and seem to exfoliate better.
Have any of you used these for exfoliating? Seeing any negatives? I plan to use it twice a week.

I used one for months. No negatives, but didn't prevent clogged pores for me. Only the 20% salicylic acid is strong enough to exfoliate my skin.

Sa Is for exfoliating inside pores. Microfiber or any other manual exfoliation (aha also) is for getting all that crap off the surface of the skin.
So I feel using both Sa and manual exfoliation is important.

You may want to try Lumiplexion's glycolic (AHA) acid. I used Dan's AHA in the past but i find Lumiplexion's to be more concentrated. There are three strengths, 10, 12 and 15. I'm using 12% now and it's very effective.

Thanks for the recommendation. I love glycolic acid too.... cleared my blackheads quickly and easily. I will look into that specific brand. (People freak when I tell them I use acid on my face, but I then tell them that all those otc pads have sal. acid... just a very weak strength... too weak to work on my skin. I just bumped up the strength... that's all. Actually, I would never have tried stronger acids until my derm sold me a 10% glycolic acid pad and it made a difference.... when nothing ever has made a difference... so I started looking into it and reading reviews. Thank goodness for Amazon. No more dermatologists for me!

I've been using a microfiber towel every night to gently wipe my face after I wash it (no scrubbing or circular exfoliating) and it seems to give me a light exfoliating every night to the point where I'm not overdoing it.
I hope it continues to go well and doesn't cause a major breakout in the future or anything (knocks on wood).

I used to do this. It seemed to help exfoliate, but it didn't stop my skin from breaking out. I still use them when I use a face mask. They're good for removing a stubborn mask. Now I use the Olay ProX Spin Brush and I don't break out anymore.....it gives a better deep down clean and better exfoliation.

I'm always scared to use a towel for fear of irritating my skin. I tend to just use my finger tips.

I haven't ever tried microfiber towels but have been using these really soft washcloths I found online at etsy.com: http://www.etsy.com/...loths-for-ultra There are two sides to them - one is a really soft material, the other is soft terrycloth. The really soft side is perfect for washing my face for gentle exfoliation and you can even use the other side on your body. I bought a few sets so I could use a clean one every day and it's worked great. I also make sure to just blot my face dry with a clean towel after washing. I tried washing w/o a washcloth but my face just didn't feel clean enough.
