Hi Everyone!

I'm now about 2 and a half months into a 6 month course. Mostly my skin has been quite good, though I still get the odd cystic type lump along my jaw and on the sides of my face. The main problem im having is an aching body! Ive pretty much had to cut out all forms of exercise except walking really. I moved house this weekend (lifting and shifting) and afterwards I wanted to die!

My spine and knees are probably the worst. Ive started taking glucosamine tablets cause ive heard they help prevent any damage the accutane might cause. Im worried about it though, and im trying not to read google posts about the horror stories associated with accutane/joint problems.

Anyone else having these troubles? I really want to finish Accutane. As far as my skin goes, its been amazing so far!

My Dermatologist says the joint pain will disappear after ive finished the course, and may even go away before ive finished it. I would just like to know what other people have experienced.

(I know this sounds a little selective, but im hoping mostly for positive/supportive posts. :-)

I am almost two months in myself and my skin has been fabulous!!!! But I am starting to have significant joint pain, as well as some other painful side effects. I also try to stay away from reading horror stories and try to remain hopeful and positive. I am on a low dose 20/mg and will not increase as my side effects are already bordering on almost-too much. I see my primary doc tomorrow for advice on the joint pain and other health issues and hope I can continue, as my skin is SO HAPPY! I empathize and hope you can continue as well. Good luck! I do a lot of stretching, which helps but I have not added supplements as I have heard conflicting info. We will see what doc says.

I'm afraid I havent had these issues myself, so am no use on that front. However, my friend had joint pain on accutane and it DID go away at the end of his course. I believe an omega supplement may help for now :)

Hey :) I am on accutane and also was having joint pains when I was about a month in. I started taking Fish oil and glucosamine supplements and within a week all the joint pains went away. These supplements were OK with my dermatologist.

I still get lower back aches and hoping these go away after I am finished in a month and a half. I am hopeful they will :)

Ok I've been taking glucosamine regularly for about a week now, and fish oil (liquid) for 2 days and I can honestly say it has helped HEAPS!
I can bend down and touch my toes without feeling any pain whatsoever (where as before id make it to my knees and would groan) and my knees feel less 'dry' and achy. Definitely going to continue with these.
Also, in case anyone is suffering - I bought a moisturizer by Hamilton called Urederm. I had some eczema on my hands which it cleared up in a day or 2, and now I use it on my face. It's amazing! (it's an Aussie brand, but it's mostly water, mineral oil, urea (10%), glycerin, petrolatum.) highly recommended!
