Well I took the spiro plunge today and I'm not going to take a second pill. I have the worst case of urinary urgency
(not needing to urinate frequently, but feeling like I need to go all the time....... but can't). I think this may be due to an
interaction between spiro and the Zoloft I take. I take 1/2 a 50mg pill of Zoloft because a whole pill throws me into
urinary urgency. Now I think the spiro is interacting with the zoloft to up zoloft's bladder spasming qualities.

Just sent my husband out to get OTC urinary pain relief pills.........

Natural hormone balancing? I eat gluten free, casein free, sugar free, soy free anyway. Plus Zinc, B vitamins, etc.
I think it all helps, but doesn't tackle the problem as throughly as I'd like.

How much spiro did you take? Your dosage can make a huge difference. I notice frequent urination on 100mg, but don't notice it at all on 25mg. Your body will also adjust. I had the same feeling you describe for the first two weeks, then it disappeared. Drink a lot of water.

If you want to go the natural route, there are natural anti-androgen supplements: saw palmetto or stinging nettle. Start on at least 500mg a day. Some people report success combining saw palmetto and stinging nettle.

Saw Palmetto: http://www.amazon.co...ds=saw palmetto
Stinging Nettle: http://www.amazon.co...stinging nettle

P.S. Don't be alarmed that these supplements are often listed under prostate health and urinary tract health. They are natural anti-androgens and are also used for acne in both men and women.

Took 25mg. And its not frequency (which wouldn't be so bothersome). It's urgency - that constant, painful feeling of needing to urinate.
Frequency I would expect with Spiro. Icould handle that. Urgency is intolerable. I am pretty certain it is an interaction between Spiro and
Zoloft

I'm going to try to Saw Palmetto/Stinging Nettle. Thank you very much for your input.

Good luck. Remember hormonal treatments take at least 4 months to kick in. Someone just recently posted success with Saw Palmetto at dosages of 1500mg a day. If you can handle 500mg for a week, you can try upping your dose as well.

I had to discontinue spiro after 4 months, when my skin became worse than ever. Derm hadn't seen anything like it.

Did you have your hormones tested? I have heard good things about bio identical natural progesterone (progon-b), spearmint tea, and maca root. Earthclinic is a great resource if you're looking to go natural and systemic with your remedy.

A pharmacist told me many years ago that juicing 5lbs of carrots daily has the same efficacy as accutane, but without the toxic side effects. I am on week 5 and am starting to see real results. It isn't easy, but if it works at the level he suggested, I'm all in. You can see his website here:

I'm getting the best results I've seen yet for my adult-onset hormonal acne (I probably have PCOS) using cetaphil antibacterial cleanser, hydrogen peroxide as a toner, and retin-a .025% cream, and daily carrot juicing. Best of luck to you in your process of healing!
