Hello There, i am a 18 years old female and i suffer from acne, as i have a darker skin tone, i do not suffer from redness but on the other hand i am covered with acne scars.

I start using Finacea Gel 15% and Doxycycline on 27 June 2012, at the beginning my skin was so irritated with Finacea, literally it felt like someone was burning my skin, but then after a week it wasn't so painful (please note that i only apply Finacea after washing my face, at first i used clean&clear to wash it but then i just give up, i think that helped a lot with the itching and burning).
I had no side effects with Doxycycline.

I really don't see any improvement on my skin Posted Image, it has been a month since i started this regiment and i just want to quit, but i saw some comments on the internet from people who have used Finacea and they say that normally it takes a couple of months until you see any difference.

I use Finacea twice a day, at the morning and at night and i take Doxycycline after lunch. Well, normally i don't have appetite, which means that sometimes i skip meals, so last week i noticed that after taking Doxycycline and not eating, i started having nausea, it was really uncomfortable,so now my mother always make sure that i EAT BEFORE taking Doxycycline.

I will keep posting and hope this works.

I've taken Doxycycline before and although I saw great results initially, that was kind of short-lived. I think it shocked my skin into reacting and it then it went a little downhill after that. But the consistently good results came by around the end of the second month so it's best to stick with these things.

My advice is to make sure you don't take it on an empty stomach and that you stay hydrated too. Sounds like you've experienced what happens otherwise and it's not particularly pleasant! I'd also advise tapering off towards the end of the course rather than stopping dead. I used to find that whenever I stopped antibiotics, my skin got worse. When I last took Doxycycline, I tapered off for a month, taking it every other day for a couple of weeks, then every tow days, then every three or four. Reducing it gradually seemed to work well and my skin didn't breakout once I'd finished.

Good luck! :)

Wow im not the only one! I was given doxycycline and finacea too. IM almost 23 yo male and I have light skin thats been red and irritated for the past few months. Was thinking it was rosacea acne but its really just acne. Anyway, derm gave me doxycycline and finacea. My skin looked and felt HORRIBLE when using the finacea. I used it for 5 days and my skin is red, irritated, broken out, more oily then normal, and super super sensitive to the sun. My face burned. I stopped it, and im continuing to use the doxycycline, but im not using finacea anymore. IM using an african black soap which has been really good for the past week and my skin was clearing up, but this morning/day hasnt been so good. Had some new pimples and what not, but its something I did to myself so. But yes, I wasnt able to tolerate finacea either and I dont know if the doxy is working. Ive been on it for about 3 weeks.
