Hi
I've recently heard about people using sulfur to treat acne but I'm having trouble finding where to buy it and finding good brands. If you could let me know about this that would be great :)

Also, like I mentioned, I'm new to the idea of using sulfur for acne - so if anyone could explain a little about how or why it works (or even if it works) I'd appreciate that also.

Thank you :)

My son uses 10% Sulfur Ointment by De La Cruz. Here in the states it is 5.99 over-the-counter at drug store chains. If you go to their website at dlclabs.com, you can call or email them and they will advise you on how to use it. It is meant to be put on for 10 minutes then rinsed off once, twice or three times a day depending on what your skin can handle. You can play around with it and see what works for you. My son makes it into a lotion with the addition of water 1:1 (green tea works too) and rubs it into his skin before bed and leaves it on all night. He spot treats active blemishes with undiluted cream. There was a little break out in the first week, but he pushed through it and it is working quite well now. In one month he is 75% clear, which is remarkable considering his condition when he started. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the reply :)
Good to hear that using the sulfur appears to be working for your son - I think I will try it out soon. I'll have to find a brand available here in Australia though as I don't think I'm able to get the one you mentioned here or online. Might just go into a pharmacy and ask if they have any available over the counter.
Thanks again - it does help :)

I hope you can find something with the 10% strength without other added ingredients. I like that we can dilute it down to a lower strength when needed. We have a drawer full of prescription drugs and over-the counter soaps and creams and this inexpensive jar does the trick. He also applies the green tea toner discussed in this forum. It's a beautiful combination. (note- my son does not wash his face with anything but water. His face is pretty oily but I was assured by the company that the sulfur ointment absorbs through the oil. He did not experience ANY of the drying that some have reported with sulfur. But he does only apply it once a day. You may experience more of a drying effect if you wash your face with a cleanser before applying the sulfur.)

Thanks for the tips :) I'll try to find the 10% strength. I've been trying out that green tea toner too over the past few days.
So far this is the only sulfur cream I've found info for online (and that I know where to get in-store) http://moogoo.com.au...hing-cream.html it says it has 10% MSM (organic sulfur) but it does include other ingredients that they have listed on that site. Do you think it would be better to try and find a cream that is just the 10% sulfur or would something like that be ok? I know it'll probably be different for everyone depending on their skin but just thought I'd ask your opinion

From what I can gather, MSM is only 35% sulfur plus there are a lot of other ingredients in that cream. Honestly, I looked around and just didn't see anything in Australia on the web that is like the De La Cruz 10% Ointment. I saw David's Sulphur Cream but it is only 3%. But I did see an eBay seller that ships to Australia. Not sure if the shipping is within reason or not...it says to call for the rates. Here's a link to the eBay store: http://www.ebay.com/...z-/251116111962

I didn't know that about MSM. Yeah I can't seem to find any info online about products I can get in Australia... I'll just ask about it at a chemist some time soon.
Thanks for the link - I might end up having to go through them. And thanks so much for your help :)

If a chemist is the same as a pharmacist, that may be your answer. He or she may have some or know where to get it. Keep me posted...

Went and asked about this at the pharmacy today - the lady I spoke to didn't seem to know about any sort of sulfur cream... just showed me the usual BP based treatments for acne... I may go ask at a different store sometime and see if they know anything about a sulfur powder where you can mix up your own (read something about that briefly online a litle while ago)- but I'm not in a rush to get this at the moment, though I am still interested in trying sulfur at some point. Thanks again for your help :)
