I've been on the regime for two full weeks. I've always suffered with large pores, blackheads, occasional breakouts with cystic acne, and frequent smaller type acne. Before the regime, I used Dan's BP only in the morning and applied a generous amount, followed by moisturizer. In the last two weeks, I slowely ampted up my BP. In the morning I wash with his cleanser, then apply eye cream and BP, then apply CeraVe moisturizer with a few drops of jojoba oil. I repeat the same regime at night and wait at least 5-10 minutes between each step. I'm using the full dose of all the products. At first my skin was flaking and drying. I continued adding jojoba oil. It did clear up my acne. Now, I am having another problem. My skin is very dehydrated. I have wrinkles around my eyes and the skin is very dry. I apply the moisturizer and jojoba oil, but it doesn't seem like it is sinking in very well. I essentially have very dry skin with a bunch of oil sitting on top of it. I had six new small acne cysts forming under my skin as of this morning. I know it is supposed to take a while, but I am considering giving it up and just going back to my once a day regime only washing my face at night. I don't get BP near my eyes and they have tons of wrinkles. Should I continue? Should I stop? Should I cut back and only do it once a day? How long does it take to have your skin adjust? Is it worth it? It seems like all this BP is very irritating and making my skin worse. I have considered stopping all the products cold turkey and just use a gentle cleanser once a day with distilled water.

not much related, but water ALONE dry out your skin, so you might wanna also wash your face in midday at least with water or more even 2 times in midday with water only, to not allow oilbuild up on your face and clog pores.

The Regimen and other topicals will not help true cystic acne. Cystic acne needs to be treated internally.

What you're describing is all perfectly normal. My experience with the regimen is that the first week I imediately started to get clear, and then in week 2-3 my face was worse than ever with more breakouts than I had ever experienced before, on top of extremely dry, red, burning anditchy skin. Including red irritated and puffy eyes, sore eyelids and wrinkes (from dehydration). I persevered and it all went away including the acne.... The first 4 weeks for me were hell, but I'm so glad that i stuck with it. Its up to you if you're prepared to get through this awful, painful and disheartening stage, but if you do, there is a good chance that you will be rewarded with clear skin.

Thanks for the advice. I will continue. Last night I started using Dan's Moisturizer and it seemed to absorb much better than the CeraVe Lotion. What do you use to remove eyemakeup? Dan's cleanser doesn't do a good job with that. Did you use an eyecream or did the dryness disappear after 4 weeks around your eyes? Thanks again.

I wash my face and then immediately apply dan's moisturiser around my eyes. After my skin is completely dry (as per Dan's intructions) I then apply the BP etc. I found this helped with the dryness around my eyes, but didnt help with the puffiness or sore eyelids. That just went away in time....

I've dont find that I need to use makeup remover on my eyes. My mascara is not waterproof and I find that it just comes off with his cleanser. If I go out at night and I have a lot of makeup on however, I occassionally 'wash' my face with the jojoba oil and then wash with the cleanser. I find that takes everything off pretty well.

Hi :) I just wanted to say that I have started the regimen two weeks today and don't worry about all the dryness and everything because you skin does have to get used to everything. The wrinkles will go away so do not worry about that. So far here is what has happened with my skin

Week 1: Good, and I guess there was some improvement.
Week 2: Acne is so much worse than week one. It completely sucks right now.

Everyone, well most everyone says that the first few weeks are the worst, so hopefully my face can get over this phase. I have pretty severe acne right now, and i do not even want to update my weekly picture because right now I looks worse :( Anyway! I still have a lot of hope.

I hope that this regimen works for us! Keep updating!

This week has been much better after I switched to Dan's lotion and used jojoba oil. His lotion absorbs into my skin better than the CeraVe did. I also made sure to be extra gentle with my cleansing. The acne that started to form under my skin at the beginning of this week, is now going away. My face is looking relatively clear. I didn't have severe acne to begin with, but when it would form; it would look like marbles under my skin. My eyes are getting better, but I can tell that overall the skin is still very dry. I also noticed this morning that I had major lines on my forehead where I squint. I'm hoping that the hydration gets better. I know people says that it does, so I will patiently wait.

Stick with it, I had a bad breakout around week 3/4 but now that has cleared up and I don't seem to be breaking out in large inflamed pimples anymore. Maybe 2 or 3 small ones, now just the red marks to deal with :/ ugh.

My face is clear but still dry and my nose is still pretty rough from a lot of peeling and blackheads. When did you feel confident to switch to only one application of BP a day? How did you go about doing it? Thanks.

thanks. How is your progress? My face is now clear, with exception of gross blackheads and peeling on my nose. My face is still somewhat dry. I'm using the AHA in the evening instead of moisturizer though.

I just started using AHA last night and I must say I woke up surprised! Some parts of my face that were flaky are now gone. I don't want to speak too soon but I like how the AHA makes my face feel so soft n smooth.

I still do have a few pimples mainly 2 large ones but compared to a few weeks ago my face is looking much clearer.

I'm in the middle of the second week on the regimen myself. The first week made me very scaly and gave me a painful itch. I almost quit it was so bad. But I pushed through and the itching is more subtle but now I'm breaking out again. I have slight wrinkling as well. Drink tons of water and keep adding jojoba oil every time you moisturize. I hope your skin plumps back up again. :)

yup, thats supposed to happen. for most people it takes at least 3 months to finally clear up, so you really have to dedicate yourself to this, but id say its worth it
