Here is my story. I just recently turned 20, and I have had red marks (hyperpigmentation for about 1 year). I used Finacea for 1 month and a half without any benefit so I decided to go to a dermatologist. She prescribed Aczone and Differin. I've used those for 4 months without any benefit. About 17 days ago, I got a chemical peel and was under the impression that would have a huge impact, but I was wrong. In fact, it made the redness more profound and I wasted 100 dollars. I'm desperate and I hate looking at my face, which is a shame because I would be extremely attractive without these red marks along my jawline. I have college in 1 month and I really want my face to look much better than it currently is. I'm seriously considering laser, but it costs 200 dollars, and I don't know if it's worth it considering my track record of never having anything work. I am disappointed that my dermatologist treats me like a customer rather than a patient.

Is laser worth it? Are there more effective treatments that work better and quicker?

Please help

Laser could be worth it. Also, you often need to have multiple chemical peels in order to see visible results- are these pitted scars or just flat red marks?

I'm surprised the marks haven't faded away on their own. Have they faded away at all in the past year? In your case, I think multiple chemical peels or multiple microdermabrasion sessions would benefit you the most. Since they're not depressed scars, idk if laser is worth the money--could be though..

I've been using ACV for the past two weeks, and it has faded my 6 month old marks on my cheeks about 50%. Old marks fade quicker than new ones.

That is true. So you've had your old marks for about a year, and before using the ACV they hadn't faded?

I've done some research into lasers for myself and in all honesty....idk if it's worth it. A lot of people have reported permanent skin damage, scarring, uneven skin texture, etc from using lasers on their face. Of course, others have reported success, but it seems like 50/50 which is a big chance to take with your skin. I would probably recommend further chemical peels or microdermabrasion for you since your marks are just flat. I know you said that one peel didn't help but like I said, it usually takes multiple peels to have an effect. In the mean time if the ACV is working why not continue with it? You'll only continue to see results.

Also - products that encourage cell turnover like Retin-A can help.

Not sure if you're referring to me, but my marks were 6 month old and they were fading very slowly. I would say maybe 15% over half a year. Also, when i say 50% it's more like 40%. It's hard to judge cause when I look at myself in different lighting, it changes. Regardless, they have faded more in the past two weeks than the past 6 months.

New marks refuse to fade however, which is sad. Maybe cause they haven't really reached the top layer of the skin where one can exfoliate them off easily. Progress with the ACV is also slowing down, with the most results within the first week. Maybe because the marks take time to come up to the surface. I'm not sure though, it's just a theory Posted Image

If you have scars, you should research a bit more about how ACV will help scars cause I'm not sure how they will affect them. If you have hyperpigmentation however, it's definitely worth a try. No side effects for me, and the worst part was the smell.

If you wanted to know, I use 1:1 water with ACV. I would think any brand will do, I'm using Eden Organic. Make sure to get the raw unpasturized one, with the 'mother'. Shake well, so the 'mother' cloudy stuff is not stuck on the bottom, cause that's what you want on your face. I put it on as a toner in morning and night, and leave it on until the next application.

This is the best solution I have found and a lot of the members agree with me as well.

Wash your face with facewash during the evening.
Apply Manuka honey ( 10UMF or higher ) on your face lightly with your fingers.
Sit around like Pooh bear with honey on his face for 2 hrs.
Wash off face with water first and then facewash
Apply a moisturizer

Improvements can be seen in 1 week. Manuka honey can be bought from Holland and Barretts. 250ml costs £10. Regular honey wont cut it, so dont bother.

DO NOT use anything else. Too many cooks spoil the broth. i.e. Too many treatment creams will ruin your face.
