Can quitting doxycycline make your acne worse?

I was on doxycycline for about 3-4 months. It didn't really work so the next time I went to see the dermatologist she highered my dosage. After that the higher dosage made me eyes really sensitive to the light so I stopped taking the antibiotic. Now my face is worse than even. When I initially went on the antibiotic I had mild acne, now I'm on the verge of severe acne. My main question is whether or not this could be the reason why my acne has gotten so bad.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Will my face stay like this forever?

Yes if you go cold turkey off an antibiotic usually you'll experience breakouts. The best bet is to slowly wean yourself off the antibiotic by taking less and less of it, but even that is no guarantee. I've had some good results with a few different antibiotics over the years, but doxy wasn't one of them for some reason. I took it for a few weeks but I got horrible stomach nausea from it with or without food, so I guess it just didn't agree with my body. Other antibiotics I've taken for years at a time with almost no side effects, but I guess doxy just wasn't for me.

I had very good results with doxycycline until it quit working. In the end, the only thing that really did it was accutane.
