but it seems as though my adult acne is under control. wow. after A LOT of trial and error, i think i've found a regime that works.
in the MORNING, i use cetaphil antibacterial bar soap to do a very gentle no-more-than-five-seconds wash. i know, i know. most people discourage the use of soap. & to be honest, i was HIGHLY skeptical but i was desperate. desperate.
so i put a very, VERY light coat of that on and rinse it off almost immediately.
then i take my cetaphil gentle cleanser, put a SMALL dot in my hand (about dime sized, if not smaller), and i take an equal sized squirt from st. ives green tea scrub. i use the gentle cleanser/scrub together for a VERY FAST once-run-over.
i have no idea why i do the cetaphil gentle when i'm already using the bar soap version, haha. i suppose it's because i was desperate a few weeks ago and i was trying everything. & now i'm stuck with both forms of cetaphil and figured i might as well use them up. so far, so good. no problems whatsoever from mixing cleansers/scrubs.
i leave to air dry or if i'm in a hurry, i dab it VERY LIGHTLY.
in the morning, i do all of the above & then put on a layer of cetaphil moisturizer or oil of olay sunscreen (if i happen to be going outside).
in the evening, i do all of the above, as well. with a couple of differences. often times i won't use the scrub at night. the green tea scrubs seems to brighten up my complexion so i do it first thing in the morning.
again, i'm not really sure why i use both medications. i think it came about because i was desperate and slapping on anything under the sun. & as luck would it - the mixture of the two creams works PERFECT.
at night, i take a small dab of benzoyl and rub it all over my face. well, i don't run it. i squirt a small, itty bitty amount in my palm, coat my hands in it, and just pat it over my whole face.
at this point, i let it dry and then i do the same thing with a light, light coat of differen. put on palms, pat on face. allow to soak in.
and then i moisturize.
IMPORTANT - every time i touch my face after touching a tap nozzle or already used towel or door handle or whatever - i clean my hands with the bar soap beforehand. i DO NOT touch my face anymore and it's doing a world of good.
my skin has not been this clear in a long time. granted, it still has several red spots that look like the beginnings of pimples at times - but - the difference is that they are't erupting and if they DO erupt...the nighttime regime takes them away before morning practically.
i take various vitamins. vit D, biotin, pressure pills.
this is a fairly cream heavy regime but i swear, if any one tries it and has the success i do, i'll consider my work day done and complete.
after trying many, many expensive products, i am happy to say that i'd recommend cetaphil any day.
it's just...i can't even explain it. large cystic types are gone...and they haven't come back...there is never the feeling of - uh oh - i feel a pustule that needs to be drained.
i recommend anyone try this and see how it works for you. now, it DOES burn a teeny bit when i put it on, which, i mean is to be expected when i'm such a sensitive skin of person.
also, forehead wrinkes vanished almost immediately.
total cost -
$4 bar of cetaphil antibacterial soap
$10 cetaphil gentle cleanswer
$6 st. ives gree tea scrub
$7 benzoyl peroxide tube
$0 differen (prescription, no charge)
q-tips and cotton balls for spot treatment or rubbing skin if needed to avoid getting hands soiled.
total cost around $27.
and worth every single penny.
Well...i Never Thought I'd Say This...

Vitamin D and the benzoyl peroxide are probably the two things doing the most good for you.
Most people are deficient in vitamin D which is crucial for our skin,so supplementing is almost a nessacity.
It thins out sebum and makes it less sticky and less likely to clog pores.
Benzoyl peroxide kills surface bacteria.
Glad you have found something that is working for you
