Well this is my first post here so anyways,
a friend of mine recently had a little outbreak on her forehead, after 2 days the pimples and 1 cyst were gone and she was left with some hyperpigmentation, now after only ONE DAY her forehead looks beautiful like it looked a week ago, she isn't covering it up with makeup i know that FOR SURE! the first day that her hyperpigmentation disappeared there was a little chicken-pox-like scar where the cyst was just a few days ago, but it blended in with her skintone. this "scar" is now completely gone and her skin looks flawless again. at first i thought she simply cut out the area of hyperpigmentation (terrifying i know) or used a very strong bleaching product. but wouldn't that have left a scar? how on earth did she achieve this miracle?

Can you ask her? That seems like the most direct way to get an answer.

well she is on vacation untill the end of september and i have no way of contacting her since she's out of the country. plus i kind of dont feel too comfortable asking her but i guess its the only way of getting this information. i just thought maybe somebody would know and i find it quite fascinating that hyperpigmentation can be healed so fast while we all wait for months..

I think some skin types (obviously ours! since we're on this forum) are prone to the hyperpigmentation, while others (like your friend) don't get the PIH naturally.
Or is this a one time sort of thing and you've seen PIH in the past?

Now that I think about it, my boyfriend who is acne-prone, doesn't have any noticeable PIH. Darn him!

Yes, some people are more prone to PIH than others. I'm medium olive toned skin and I get PIH INCREDIBLY easily....kind of sucks. But thankfully, all of my marks fade, I've never been stuck with permanent scars that last years or something.

She might have used a bleaching product, though, you never know. Some people report having success with hydroquinone (skin lightener) within 1 - 2 weeks.

The likely answer is that it wasn't really PIH, just the breakout healing. Given that her skin is flawless, she's probably not at all PIH-prone (damn her). Back when I didn't have to deal with PIH, I would often find that there would be a flat area of redness after a lesion had run its course that lasted for anywhere from a day or so to a week.
