There is one thing I just remembered that I feel I should point out just in case it may be causing a problem with you guys. When I started on the regimen a few years ago using acne.org moisturiser, the ingredients were slightly different from the one Dan sells now.

This may have nothing to do with the problem you are experiencing, but in my case I absolutely cannot cope with his new moisturiser. I bought the 16oz bottle last year and used it one time only and I had an awful reaction to it. Maybe it's just my weird skin, but it caused my eyes to swell up and my whole face felt like it was on fire. Took several days for the burning, itchy redness to disappear. I have never used it since and I believe I must have a real problem with the lichochalcone in it. A lot of people seem to like the new moisturiser but there is also a thread asking Dan to bring back the old formula - which I loved!

I quickly switched back to my usual moisturiser and it's been fine ever since. I'm not sure how your skin feels when you apply the moisturiser maybe you are okay with it but I thought I would share my experience with you just in case it may be causing you some problems also.

I do not use his moisturizer on his BP. I like my moisturizer and cleanser. I think I need to be more patient and be more positive about my skin!

Day 14 update:

My face: Hurts. Is red. Itches like crazy. Flaky. I am still waking up to a few actives every morning. I am only two weeks in as so far it is it is looking worse than the first week on The Regimen. I am not going to let this discourage me, because this has happened to many people starting the regimen. I am hoping for a better 3rd week. Thanks everyone Posted Image

I'm happy it's improving. Fingers crossed. I want this to work for you so badly! You're a really nice person and deserve great skin.

I just read on godawfulface's log that she never experience purging. I'm wondering why I am...
I actually started applying a bit less BP on my face at night and my face seems to be less irritated. Since I have extremely sensitive skin, perhaps I was just exhausting my skin. We'll see...

Diane 35 and all other BCP are poison. Diane 35 caused my acne.
I've been off the pill since December 2012.

DKR Regimen Started July 16th 2012. Did not work for me, irritated my skin and made matters worse.

Now trying to quit facial cleansers and use the water only method.

Started the water only method on March 18th 2013.

AM:

  • Rinse with water in shower
  • Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel
  • Apply Almay Smart Shade Makeup with a clean brush (try to go without when possible)

PM:

  • Rinse with water over kitchen skin
  • Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel

I DO NOT EAT:

  • sugar
  • alcohol
  • processed anything
  • gluten
  • very sweet fruits (ex: bananas or pineapples)
  • egg yolks
  • dairy

I allow myself 1 instant coffee a day.

I take fermented cod liver oil, zinc, probiotics and spearmint tea every day.

I also give TLC to my liver with burdock root and dandelion tea smile.png

I change my pillow cases frequently.

I do not know. My face has always purged to everything I have previously used on my face, so I really can not say that it was a complete surprise that I am breaking out.
But I did watch this one Doctor show on TV, and they said that it takes about a month for your skin to complete its cycle, meaning even if you seem to have clear skin today you could experience a breakout in a weak because of that skin cycle. It is supposed to be a month or so for most but for some it could be much more. It just depends on your own body.

And thanks :) I know you deserve it as much as I :)

Do you sleep or talk on your phone on your right cheek? If so, that is probably to blame. I always sleep/talk on my right cheek and it's always been my worst problem area.
I'm trying really hard to sleep on my back now because I know for a fact that sleeping on my side just irritates my skin.
Imagine, we are trying to be so gentle with our cleansing, treating & moisturizing, using a feather-like touch and then at night we completely irritate our skins by sleeping on it in the pillow.

Um no. But my acne acts in this pattern. It is weird, but one cheek is worse on week and then the other another time. I do not hold my phone on my skin, and i try and keep it away. I actually like sleeping on my back haha, is that weird? My boyfriend seems to think so haha. He says I sleep like a mummy! Meanie! :)
I do not know. I just need more time at this point. I can't wait for us to be at the 3 months mark! I am so excited for us haha!

More acne talk tomorrow.

Okay everyone!

Day 18 is here. And here is what is happening with my skin...

My chin was a problem site for months now and I have been waking up to anywhere from 2-5 pimples every day. Now I am waking up to 0-1. That is an improvement so far. I have read that people to clear in certain places before others so lets hope that is the case for me as well.

My cheeks Posted Image I hate my cheeks. I still have ample amounts of actives lingering for me to see. I an used to waking up to a few new pimples every morning and I think that is still happening. It is hard to tell because there is so much going on with my cheeks. I get dark spot every time a pimple goes away so it is making my face look worse than it is right now. I am still taking things one day at a time though Posted Image

I am getting some pimples on my temples which is not completely unusual, but I hate them. Also, I got a pimple close to my eye? That was not something I would expect ten from my terrible skin haha. I am not using any BP on that, because I can't see that being a problem area in the near future. Also I do not want BP anywhere near my dear eyes haha.

Overal on a scale on 1-10. I would still rate my skin at being a 9. A 9 because there is not enough improvement yet.

How would you rate your skin at this point everyone?

Day 19:

Things looked good this morning! I did not breakout last night! This has not happened for months and months! Things are getting a little flatter so hopefully tomorrow I will also be breakout free :)

My face is an 8/10 today :)

So here is my Day 20 update:

So let's see. I woke up so about three tiny pimples on my face and as for the rest of my face things are getting really flat. My red marks are slowly, but still noticeably going away. My forehead and chin are by far still doing much better than my cheeks so what I have done is I have upped my BP dosage once more. I was looking around and I found a video Dan posted that said, if you had severe acne, you could increase the BP to three pumps. Right now I am at 2 1/2 and my face feels good. I hope this little increase will help prevent and minimize further breakout!

More positive updates to come :)

Oh and my face is still an 8! Maybe 7.9/10 :)

You know what I realized? We have to stop panicking about the new breakouts for a few weeks at least. We are afraid of the breakouts and they ruin our mood.
I say let's change our attitude. Let's stop focusing on the new breakouts and expect them instead. There - I expect to wake up tomorrow with a few new ones in random unexpected places. Bring it on!!!!!!

Also, I wanted to ask, what moisturizer + cleanser are you using?

Cetaphil. They are amazing, but it is cheaper than buying them online. I just use his BP.

And you are so so so completely right! I say from now on till we are clear we have to except things to get bad but the most important thing is that we can not let it take us down. Because a breakout does completely ruin my mood, which I'm sure it does for you too. Great Idea :) I am all in.

3 Weeks today!!!!!!!! Day 21 Update:

Alright everyone, thanks so my awesome support buddy #mystory, the way I am going to go about this regimen from now on will be different. No longer will we stress every morning with the dreaded breakout, and no more expecting things to be clearer every time we look at ourselves in the mirror. From now on, we will be EXPECTING a breakout every day, and if not that is great. That is it. I think this will make things easier. Sooo for the update I have got new pimples on my cheeks and chin, and possibly my temple. I am not going to touch then and just leave them alone which can be so hard to do.

I am happy start going to Arizona State University (YAY!) again soon just so that I can be even busier doing things other than thinking about my skin 24/7. How is that thinking for you? :) :) :) I am no where near clear skin, but I am ready to be there!

I have finished three weeks on the regimen and I feels great that make it this far haha even without any good results. This is by far the hardest treatment I have ever used on my face. Truly a journey. I know I have long journey ahead of me, and with my awesome support team, I know that we will all make journey easier for each other :) I am so glad that I have not given up! I am going to keep pushing through the next few weeks and I have hopes my positive results outweigh the negative.

Let us keep fighting…

Good work!! You might continue to flair up constantly, but just remember what iI told you and your skin will gradually work it's way down to a normal skin tone again. (Still working on your note, sorry about that XD).

Uh oh. Had a breakout that happened within a few hours I swear! What the heck! Haha.

Those break outs mean nothing, they were already under your skin 6 weeks ago, three weeks before treating your FUTURE break outs. The regime is all about prevention, let your body get rid of the last of it's acne. It. Will. Pass. :3

I'm glad you're going to the uni! I am going back to college in the beginning of September. My goal was to be clear, but my face doesn't look good at all.
Even though I only have 1 active pimple, but I have a few bumps on left cheek that will form (hopefully won't be big, but trying not to stress about it), lots of new acne scars and red marks. If I don't break out this month, then my skin will look great. Hoping I don't get lots of breakouts. Good luck to you and I hope you do well at the uni! :)
Best way to make your skin smooth and clear eventually:

Plant-based diet is the best medicine for everything.. That's if you consume at least 80% raw, mainly from veggies and fruits.
Exercising: cardio is great for skin and lifting a bit.
Thinking positive and try not to stress or think about acne.

I am doing these and my skin is currently very smooth and clearing up!
I am a vegan raw 100%. I feel better, have more energy, saving animals a year, glow skin, I look younger, etc.

Once pimples would sounds awesome for me have right now haha :) Yeah I am happy to start school again, but I don't think clear skin will come in time haha. I have to be more patient!

I hope your skin continues to get better...You definitely deserve it!
