Hi Everyone,

Basically I have had acne for the last 3 years and whilst is is much better now (I no longer get big pimples that leave red marks and then scars) I'm left with a constant reminder of my past struggles with acne in the form of scars.

I've uploaded some pictures of my scars, trying to get the worst possible lighting so you guys can get a good gauge on the types of scars I'm affected with.

Right side is probably worse although the left can be pretty bad in some light too Posted Image

Thanks to everyone who replies!

Edit: I should probably mention that I'm looking for recommendations on different cosmetic procedures I can undertake to rectify this problem, I'm happy to spend some money but not willing to spend 5k+ on lasers.

Well I have no acne scars but I know that recell treatment is a very good stuff, this guy says 75% improvement is possible:
http://www.acne.org/...fraxel-re-cell/
BTW I think you should wear a longer beard so you can camouflage your scars, you should use this for shaving:
http://www.tehnomani...er-qc-5050.html
It always leaves a 3mm long beard, I use it just because I like to have a short beard, it's very nice! And it cannot make skin irritations.

Your scars aren't bad, but of course they are in the most difficult area to treat. Your are probably looking at laser work.

http://www.acne.org/...er-link-o-rama/ I am going to update this soon and change the name.

LIke you've probably heard, laser will give you the fastest and most significant results. But you may see some improvement with a strong retinoid prescription, such as Tazorac or Renova. Retinoids communicate with the lower layers of your skin to reform and produce collagen.

Apply and leave on overnight. Make sure to moisturize in the morning (your skin needs extra moisture to heal properly because the retinoid side-effect will dry itout)

After about a year on a retinoid I saw some improvement in my smaller scars.

your scarring is very similar to mine, You could do the same thing I am going to do (same thing as DudlyDoRights acne scar regimen which he said worked wonders).

I am going to do 2-4 Deep FX laser treatments, the more severe your scarring is the more treatments you are going to need.

But i will add my own little twist where on my 3rd treatment I will mix in the Avita ReCell with the Deep FX laser just to try to maximize my improvment. Acne Scar laser treatments are very expensive and can take up to 1-3 years to get the results you want

lzomg how much are those treatments ?

lzomg how much are those treatments ?

Well im only going to do both of my entire cheeks (that is where 99% of my acne scarring is) and it will cost me $1500.
Doctors almost always charge signically less for the 2nd treatment, i dont expect to pay over $800, $1000 would be the most.
3 treatments of Deep FX would be 1500 + 800/1000 + 800/1000 = 3200/3600. Not bad, for the course of 18 months.

The only one im worried about is how much the Avita ReCell will cost. I really hope it doesnt run me $5000 but If the results are worth it I will definatlly save money up if it is.

The reason I dont want to save a ton of those dermapen stuff is because im a bit worried about causing self injury.
I know lasers have a risk to them, But i feel like I would destroy my face with a dermaroller.

I don't think the OP's scars are bad. Fractional Co2 laser could offer some improvement, as well as derma rolling. I wouldn't risk rolling at home, but that's me. If laser isn't an option, I would consider fillers. I think his scars would respond well to them, but fillers are a temporary solution.

You should be under a doctor's care if you decide to try Retin-A.

I wish. The price I was quoted was equal to $7k USD.

Did that include laser with it? I know you would need laser or dermabrasion first.

When are you having the Avita ReCell added in to your procedure (datewise, I mean)? That's so awesome!

The first part of acne scars treatment, should be identifying the type of scar, which you might be suffering from. There are basically 4 different types of acne scars. Hyper-tropic scar, rolling scars, Boxcars and ice pick scar.

well I plan on having it as my last treatment, also because of the cost im going to have to wait until i get my college degree 2 mores years from now so i can afford it without going bankrupt. So somewhere around the year 2015.
My degree is nursing and not gonna lie, the pay is pretty good for an associates degree.

You're definitely right about that. I know someone who makes a great living with her nursing associate's degree. Best of luck to you. I hope you document your progress with pics along the way, and share them with us! Posted Image
