Hey everyone. I have been suffering from comedonal acne from as far as I can remember. I started using thayers unscented alcohol free witch hazel with aloe vera as a toner. It seems after I started, my comedones started getting worse. Has anyone used witch hazel on oily skin? Everyone says witch hazel is good for your skin, but then why is witch hazel not stopping the comedones?

Since this kind of witch doesnt have alcohol like you said i dont think theres a problem with continued use..comodones can be one of three types of mild to moderate skin problems..one being whitheads which is mostly the cause of dryness caused by drying products and dead skin cell build up. The second issuse is blackheads which has no dead skin cells therefore there is just an open pore which is filled with just your skins natural oil and oxygen. The third issue are those that are the same as your skin color. do not exfoliate with scrubbing beads if you have acne because it cam irritate small forming comodones into inflammed acne. Therefore i suggest using salicylic acid topical gel with a ph balance between 4 and 6 like neutrogena oil free acne stress control 3 in 1 hydrating acne treatment which will help shed your skin of dead skin cells causing less comodones and on your way to clearer skin..also use a water soluable cleanser such as neutrogena naturals purifying cleanser or cetaphil gentle wash. do not use more than one medicated over the counter topical gels or cream on your face because you will add unnecessary dryness to your skin causing irritated skin. i have comedones too nothing i do gets rid of them. so I'm using nizoral to see if it's a fungal infection. i used witch hazel a few nights ago and it broke me out in more bumps. let me know if you find anything that gets rid of these bumps. good luck!

I am using witch hazel and itsnot helped at all...it has dried the shit outta my nose, so along with the pores and blackheads, I have wrinkley skin on my nose....sucks.
