Panoxyl has discontinued the 2.5%, and nowhere has the 5% in stock, quinoderm also only comes in 10% now and Oxy on the spot is sold out even online! I live in a small town and it seems like half the population here are using BP because its so hard to get hold of. I'm aware panoxyl can be bought online but i'd rather find an alternative now since its been discontinued and wont be avaliable for much longer. I might have to settle for Dan's BP but the shipping costs are ridiculous.

Any alternatives people?

They don't have any Clean and Clear, Clearasil, or Neutrogena brands in your stores?

I have been in contact with GSK and they have confirmed that it has been discontinued. Apparently OXY- on the spot has NOT been discontinued, the company that manufactures it has just faced unprecedented demand and is facing issues with supply. Hope this helps, seems strange that they would discontinue such a popular product huh?

Its probably not as popular as you'd have thought. Apart from on here, I'd say these types of products aren't a great seller at all. You keep hearing that a sizeable amount of the population have acne. In my experience I hardly ever see anyone with it.

Have you tried Quinoderm cream? Normally it is 10% but there is a 5% version called (surprisingly enough) "Quinoderm 5". Costs about £4.50 for a 50g tube via Amazon.co.uk. I find it works just as well as the DUAC gel (5% BP + antibiotic) my dr prescribes. Make sure you apply it to totally dry skin though, otherwise it kinda goes milky/creamy and takes forever to rub in.

edit: sorry should have read the OP more carefully....... just assumed the 5% was still available as it is still listed online?

I believe if you mix the 10% with moisturiser or water, and then applied that, the active percentage would go down. I am crap at chemistry though so I'm not 100% sure, maybe someone who has actually done any in the last few years could jump in and say if I'm being ridiculous?

As far as I can tell, Chemist Direct have Quinoderm 5 in stock: http://www.chemistdi...Google+Products
I wouldn't normally post links to other sites and products, but I'll make an exception in this instance to help XXYY out. I've bought from Chemist Direct before, they're totally legit and it's probably the cheapest you'll find online. If supplies are low or it's not being produced anymore or whatever, might be worth stocking up. Their site says they have it in stock so can't see there being a problem in getting hold of some.

Just to add I have also bought from them.... both the quinoderm cream and face wash (I really like the face wash btw). They are cheap and deliver with no issues........ other than they do send out annoying spam emails with 'offers' quite often..... although I'm sure there is a way to unsubscribe.

Shipping cost are extreme (£7.75) but the total for an 8oz tube works out at only about £4 more expensive by my calculations.. which for peace of mind is worth it.

I have therefore decided to give Dans BP a go (bought from Amazon.com just now) as it looks like its a simple swap... as it has the same BP % (2.5) and is also water based... which is a must for me as alcohol based products really over dry my skin. Am confident it will work the same and not aggravate my skin.... but will report back if it does lol! Also, buying from Dan will help him continue the good work he does... as i found this site about a year ago and the regime has really helped me out and cleared up my moderate acne to such an extent where by a work colleague recently said i had really good skin! If only she knew!

Is it worth buying the acne.org BP off amazon.com for £32 including shipping or will quinoderm 5% do the job?

Stepping up from 2.5% to 5% BP worries me so I am thinking the acne.org BP is worth the price jump, any suggestions?

You'll probably get hit with taxes and fees with the big bottle of Dans BP. The 8oz tube gets through though from personal experience.

I used Quinoderm for over a year with good results. The only downside I found was when I sweated, it turned white.

my pharmacist never has the 5% in stock either but he orders it for me as and when I need it. Just ask your pharmacist to order it. Usually it arrives the next the day and you just go and pick it up.

Not true. GSK have announced on their FB page that the Panoxyl line will not be discontinued and will be back on shelves by November, hopefully. Also they're not changing the ingredients in any way (I've heard those rumours too). This has actually happens once every few years with Panoxyl, some people actually hoard it and then sell it on Ebay for stupid money.

Just checked through my sisters Facebook account. The only thing I could find them posting about was the US brand. Did it specifically mention the UK 2.5% Aquagel?

Good question - I was wondering about this myself. Panoxyl is a worldwide brand and people from various countries are asking about it on Stiefel's Facebook page, all of whom are largely receiving the same response. A woman who asked about Panoxyl 2.5% Aquagel and was told that all Panoxyl treatments were experiencing a shortage in supply and that they were working diligently with suppliers to resolve the matter. Therefore I assume any announcements will refer to all Panoxyl products, in the US, UK and elsewhere.

The only thing that made me wonder was that the US Panoxyl look like a completely different brand from that we get here in the UK. I think the Stiefel in the US make an 8% and a 4% cream and a few face washes.

I find it strange that a company goes completely out of stock on a large range of their products. The Aquagel sold in the UK was made in the south of Ireland from memory and I'd say the US products being mentioned on their Facebook page would be produced else where.

Wow you're lucky, I had totally the opposite - I used Dan's and broke out completely. Don't you find that it's too thin? Also may I ask if you had any issues changing over - did you have a break out period and then found Dan's worked for you or did it just start working straight away once you had swapped?

Yes, they do have different products in different markets. This is just conjecturing but I think that the US market already has a strong leader for BP aquagel (or several), including Dan's products and so there is no need for Panoxyl aquagel there. Conversely the Panoxyl aquagel is market leader in the UK and the rest of Europe and has somewhat of a monopoly. So much so that I have not been able to find one single financially viable alternative.

This is not the first time this has happened with Panoxyl. The most likely explanation is simply that it is a poorly run company that is perhaps going through restructuring and is using 'suppliers' as an excuse so that many people around the world don't know what a bunch of morons they are. The fact that Panoxyl aquagel was made in Ireland as you say, that the patent is still good on it and that the ingredients can pretty much be made in any lab by monkeys in the world attests to this.

It worked straight away for me... no break outs. But i had mild>moderate acne to begin with, which had cleared up thanks to the regimen, so that might have something to do with it. I love the fact that its thin, cause you can smooth it gently over your face without aggregating it. Yes it does take a while to sink in, but i kinda like that, cause then you can make sure you have covered all the areas of your face with the correct quantity, and haven't missed a bit.

Anyway, sorry to hear it didnt work for you.
