I've struggeled with acne for some years now (since about 18 and I'm 22 years now) and I'm so tired of it!
Nowadays my skin feels smooth, but everytime I get a breakout it often leaves a red mark because my skin is sensitive I guess.
I've got 4 laser treatments (in 6-7 months), but I don't think it helped that much on the red marks Posted Image

But how bad does it look? mild? moderate?
Do you have any suggestions what I can do to make them go away (or fade more)?

(by the way i'm new here Posted Image )

I think its moderate. Seeing that you have been doing laser treatments, I don't know what you could do next. SorryPosted Image .

Hiya Girl22!

First of all I don't think that they look bad at all. A little make-up will cover that up nicely. I've had acne since thirteen (I'm now 21) and I've been covering up red marks like that for years.

As for fading them, I heard lemon juice is meant to be good for fading red marks and I also know that chemicals like Adapalene, which increase skin cell turnover, can be good for fading them too. I've been using Epiduo, which is a mixture of BP and Adapalene, and although unlike you I'm still in the middle of my war against acne I found that my old red marks have really faded - even if they're being replaced by new ones. There's a product called Differin, which I think a doctor needs to prescribe, and it's just Adapalene.

Marks like these can take a full six months to fade, but they shouldn't be permanent.

Good luck and welcome to the site!

Oo! And whatever you do - apply suncream if you're outside, even if it's only a little sunny!!

Those are not bad at all, you should see mine =[. But you should exfoliate everyday a physical exfoliator and use a cream with an AHA of 10% or more it will definitely help. I also suggest you look into home chemical peels or if you do have the money a chemical peel in the derms office.

Thank you for your answers!! :) but I try to avoid chemical products, I like it better with naturel products. Right now i am experimenting with drinking and applying green tea and honey facial mask. Its still too early to say if it works.. Maybe i should give Lemon a try later ón.

If you have the money, I'd suggest you buy this: http://www.personalm...m/pages/try-2-0

It is the cost of ONE treatment, and you never have to pay for another again because you'll have that machine :) Watch the video, it seems to be very good investment. I would get it myself if I had the money! Anyways, good luck. Keep in mind that picking, drying, and popping will just cause more scarring. In order to greatly reduce scarring you have to be gentle with your skin. Sun exposure can darken the marks, and benzoyl peroxide can also do this to your marks. However, it is more important to treat your acne before treating your acne marks. If you stop the acne, then you won't have new marks to worry about :)

Good luck, I hope you get good results.

Anyway if you give it a try, i Think you should Expect atleast 3 treatments. Good luck

Girl22 thats a very good thing that you do, chemical products being applied to skin are so dangerous because they get absorbed by the bloodstream. Natural products are definitely the way to go, as for chemical peels most of them stay on the skin for less than 5 minutes so its not harmful for the skin or the body and they have tremendous results I personally use only natural products but I do chemical peels weekly because they have such great effects!

If you have the money, I'd suggest you buy this: http://www.personalm...m/pages/try-2-0

Microdermabrasion is really good but its basically like a little stronger version of exfoliating theyre not that effective as chemical peels. Chemical peels done at home cost around 10-20 dollars, where as this costs 180 and chemical peels will probably have the results of 4 months of use with that machine.

Unfortunately it looks like you still have some active acne around your face, have you tried Accutane? That took a lot of my red marks away on top of removing the acne. I too was looking into laser treatments but my derm suggested we remove the acne first before doing anything like that. I totally know the feeling, these red marks are like red wine stains spilled on white carpet that just don't want to come out!

I think Accutane is a last resort for acne treatment and from what I've read it's not something anyone should try unless their acne is severe and they've tried everything else. Girl22 seems to have very mild acne, and I think there are better alternatives for treating red marks like these.

@Girl22: If you're keen on your natural alternatives try getting more Vitamin E into your diet - meant to be good for repairing the skin. Eating Almonds, Hazelnuts and Peanuts are great for this, also Mango, Avocado and Sunflower Seeds. All healthy and yummy foods!

I don't think she would want to use Accutane considering she doesn't even want to put chemicals on her skin.
