I've tried using a bunch of things, including Nizoral, and my face is still usually quite oily by midday. I'm thinking sebum overproduction is my main issue.

My skin's oil production lessened dramatically when I stopped eating dairy.

Isotretinoin (branded Accutane) is the only drug clinically proven to alleviate excess oil production. While alternative supplements such as pantothenic acid (better known as vitamin B5) have been investigated as potential treatments, no trials have currently been able to substantiate the claims behind these substances. The activity of the sebaceous glands is for the large part genetic in origin, and no topical treatment (to my knowledge) is able to predictably and consistently alter this pattern (except for maybe topical isotretinoin, branded Isotrex). Moisturizers containing polydimethylsiloxane (also known as dimethicone) may be of benefit in masking the appearance of oily skin, as are powder-based foundations.

Don't overdry your face with harsh cleansers, don't use products with alcohol, moisturize, and salicylic acid lotions or gels work great to unclog pores and help with oiliness

are you correcting the ph (aka toning) of your skin after washing it with whatever? your're using a strong soap/detergent and leaving it stripped so I think it's normal for your skin to try and overcompensate by pumping out a bunch more oil, especially for those of us who've been regularly washing our faces for months/years...

I have found that a simple diy toner made of only citric acid cristals dissolved in water (just enough for the water to taste slightly sour, not too sour or it will burn/itch a bit) helps alot with this. I put it in a spray/misting bottle and spray my face with it after a shower or at night after washing. I couldn't tell you any exact ratios that give specific ph's as I've never bothered getting anything to test the ph of the solution but from my experience that slightly sour taste is just acidic enough.
