Naturally my skin is quite oily, however after experimenting with different types of fish oil my skin became extremely oily and uncomfortable. I also had a similar result when I began eating eggs with 660mg of omega 3 each. Why does this happen? Also, have any of you guys had success with reducing your oily skin through diet changes?

I do not believe that Omega 3 supplements cause more oil, I believe what is causing the oil is the substances that are mixed with your pill/ tablet. Today most of the pills have carriers such as magnesium stearate, corn starch, wheat, salt, soy, these are undesirable excipients which do much more harm than good. I suggest you look at the ingredients and avoid buying such things. I have come to realize that most supplements in stores are cheap quality products that do more harm. Unless you have an organic store next to you with top quality supplements I suggest you look for top quality supplements online. Some good companies I have found are the Synergy Company and Premier Research Labs.

Fish oil undeniably made my skin as oily as all hell.

Solid animal fat does not make my skin oilier. Only unsaturated fats seem to make my skin oilier.

I have oily skin to start with so the effect is very noticeable.

MysteryTutor, if it was not the Omega 3, then why did I get the same reaction when I ate eggs with the same level of omega 3 in them as the supplements? That to me indicates that it was in fact the fish oil/omega 3, and not something else. Now the question is, why?

I have not had oiliness issue with Omega 3, it helped my oils lot better actually. My skin would become more smooth and less acne marks.

Try taking a liquid form rather than capsule form, it isn't sure that you are absorbing all when in capsules.

First of all it may depend on the type of eggs you are eating, almost all eggs will do more harm then good if they are not organic. If you cook the eggs in high temperatures or fry them with the wrong oils they will do more harm than good. There are so many other factors that may have affected your oiliness that I cannot list them. Eggs are still mucus forming.
