I can't afford a consultation from a dermatologist right now, so I am wondering if anyone on here can tell me what kind of acne scars these are and how I can get rid of them. When I look at them in certain light they look sunken in, but sometimes they just look like hyperpigmentation. I'm really self conscious of them so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

My picture didn't attach in my last post, so here it is.July 2 2012 248.JPG

I don't really see scars. You might want to consider a peel to improve skin texture and tone.

Depends do you want to improve tone or texture?
If you want to improve tone just about any peel will help, glycolic, salycilic, Lactic. etc..

If you want to improve texture, topicals and peels do not work at all. You are going to need to do dermarolling or fractional co2 lasers, (I dont think your scars are bad enough for subcision). I dont know much about dermarolling so I recommend the lasers Deep FX or Fraxel Repair.

and yes I know whats its like, to other people your scars might not be bad, but to you they are the worst things in the world

I'm sorry but, my skin is EXACTLY like yours, the depth of the scars and everything. And to me they are pretty obvious, but that's maybe because I'm very observant.. I am going to try dermastamping soon! I'll let you know if it works out for me, good luck with your skin! :)

What you seem to have are shallow rolling scars and some enlarged pores that look like shallow pitted scars. I have such scars too, in fact all kinds of scars :(. Retin-A might help.
Do the scars disappear when you wake up after sleeping?

Yes they do disappear when I wake up after sleeping but they reappear after I shower, does that mean something?

I was just curious to know.

I have needled/stamped my scars and they have shown improvement. The way I look in the mirror dictates how confident I am with people and this sucks. My confidence is definitely increasing by the week after I started needling and stamping.

Rolling scars have shown improvement. I don't know if it's because of reduced PIH, filling up of collagen, or both. New boxcar scars have improved too, but the old ones haven't. I might do one round of subcision to untether some boxcar and rolling scars.

Since I only want to treat my scars, I do not use a dermaroller.

I'm so glad you are getting some improvement! I want to try dermastamping but I am scared of making my face worse =( I don't really have bad acne, I used to get big cysts once in a while when I was a teenager and I made the mistake of picking at them so they scarred :(. My confidence is way low as well, and everytime I look at someone else, it seems like their skin is PERFECT and then it just makes me feel worse about mine.

I want to try dermastamping but I am scared of making my face worse

I have used roller once, but that was when my acne was mild and barely applied pressure. I was very careful though taking all the steps to prevent skin infection. I had a major acne outbreak last year that resulted in scars, and that's when I decided to be more aggressive and started using dermastamp and nokkor lancet needles.

I feel needling more than dermastamping is helping my scars. When I needle, I puncture my scars about 15-20 times with a 30g or 33g. I stamp my scars 5-8 times. Last year, I stamped and needled together and repeated this thrice over a 6 month period. I definitely saw improvement in my scarring. I wasn't sure what actually made the scars fill up. This year I only needled my scar onceand it's filling up nicely. This doesn't mean that dermastamping does't work or needling is better; I'm just saying what worked for me.
