Hello all. I have been struggling with acne for almost 7 months now. I can't say that I'm all clear now though my face has shown great progress since the very beginning. Now I want to cure/treat/whatsoever my acne from the inside so I decided to take some sort of supplements that would help me acne-wise. After searching for a while, I came up with a product named Antioxidant Formula (which is weirdly not present in GNC's international website whereas Turkey's website seems to have it) by GNC. It claims that for 3 capsules, one gets 20000 IU of Vitamin A per day (another weird thing is that the Turkish website claims that it has 5000 IU Vitamin A for 3 capsules whereas it says 20000 IU on the packaging). That was quite shocking when I knew that the up limit for Vitamin A consumption for a day was 10000 IU (I saw that on a website related to health and stuff). However when I consulted the physician at the pharmacy, she told me that it was perfectly normal and I could use 3 capsules per day which meant I would get 20000 IU per every day. I really couldn't be sure to use it, at least 3 times a day. I mean I started taking it (one capsule a day) but I just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't get anything serious in the future. Thank you in advance.
P.S. Vitamin A of the product I mentioned is a hundred percent pure beta-carotene.

Hi,
" Betacarotene, a precursor form of vitamin A typical of vegetable sources such as carrots, is selectively converted into retinoids, so it does not cause toxicity;"
http://en.wikipedia....ervitaminosis_A
In other words, betacarotene is very safe, it is unlikely to ever overdose on it, and the only side effect is skin changing color to orange.
Other forms of Vitamin A, included those from animal sources like fish oil, are the ones that are referred to in the daily upper limit.

You might see results from dosing the Beta Carotene but probably only if you are very deficient in it. Retinol works much better for acne IMO, but you need to be careful while using it.
