So I've had moderate/severe acne for about a year now. I've been to the derm about 5/6 times now and he has told me that I did have some cysts around my jawline and forehead. The jawline has pretty much cleared up now but my forehead is still so problamatic. I've been using atralin (tretinoin 0.05%) gel and Duac topical gel (clindamycin 1%, benzoyl peroxide 5%). I was also on mynocycline for a while and it helped but now im off of it. The duac and atralin seem not to work anymore and tend to bring more breakouts as well. On my forehead i get these bumps under my skin that make my skin uneven. I will also get a few pimples. I've tried everything from jojoba oil to turmeric powder, both drinking it and applying it to my skin. When i crease my forehead it hurts. Its not really red but there are bumps which seem a centimeter or 2 long across my forehead. If you were to run you finger across my forehead you could easily feel them. I take fish oil everyday, vitamin e, and drink at least 5 glasses of water everyday. I dont excessively wash my face but i do tend to pick out of frustration. Does anybody have any idea to what im talking about? My acne is somewhat like the type in the picture, just not as inflammed and as severe. If anybody could give me any tips or any help on what to do it would be great. I have a girlfriend and i hate seeing her like thisPosted Image....

I used to have persistent hard nodules on my face however with a combination of methods I am finally rid of it after many years. There are a few things that I did that reduced the acne.

1. As a temporary relief use a very warm teabag (dipping in water) and place on the the bump until you feel no heat. Do this twice a day for at least three days.

2. Steam your face 2 times a day

3. I stopped drinking cow's milk or anything containing milk. I usually use almond , rice or soy milk. That was triggering my acne all these years and I did not realise it.

4. I also went on accutane (this should only be used as a last resort). If you are still a teenager I would not recommend this. Too many side effects. I avoided doing it for years and I finally did. The doctor prescribed it for longer but I only used it for a month. I was experiencing to many side effects so I stopped but started using vitamin A capsules to continue putting Vitamin A in my body.

Hope this helps.

I feel like a broken record...but we've got an epidemic of low D-3 levels in this modern lifestyle where people think going out in the sun a few times a week is "moderate sun exposure." Here is what I posted for someone else...

How much sun are you getting? The FDA vitamin D-3 requirement is 400 I.U., but there is new research suggesting that that is a very bare minimum. You won't get rickets with 400 I.U. but your body needs more than that. I would say AT LEAST a full 30 MINUTES of sun exposure DAILY if you are pasty white like me...a lot more if you are darker skinned. Or supplement with at least 10,000 IU vitamin D-3.

Also it's important that it's D-3...foods that "contain vitamin D" are often in D-2 form...which is different.

A study on vitamin D-3 and acne summary:

Of the 132 acne patients he studied, 28% were “much better” at three months. 47% were “healed at three months.”
Here is the doctor’s summary:

I believe I may say that at no time in my dermatological experience have I felt such complete satisfaction with a treatment as I have with the cases of this series. I know that vitamin D is an imperfect weapon to slay this disfiguring disease, but it undoubtedly gives one a feeling of being well defended. From the patients’ viewpoint, it has left little to be desired, as they find themselves improving, both in appearance and in general well-being. Many have expressed the sentiment, “Never felt better.”

The last time I had a summer vacation where I got a lot of sun exposure I cleared up almost 100%. Remember SUNSCREEN WILL BLOCK VITAMIN D-3 PRODUCTION. I burn easily, so I rely on Vitamin D-3 in pill form.

thanks skinnyt.
I havent been drinking milk and have been staying away from dairy for about 4 months now. I used to drink 2-3 glasses of milk a day prior to my acne breakouts but i dont think that its the cause of my acne. I do believe its hormonal, as from what im told from my derm because my lack of dairy has had no significant impact. Ive never used the teabag trick though. How do you steam your face as well?

I know exactly whats causing your acne forehead problems!
I used to have the exact same problem, what i would have given to find out this information earlier!

Most acne on the forehead is caused by GUT inflammation, i was sensitive to GLUTEN and DAIRY from cows. Consuming high GI foods will also be a major contributor to this problem! You can see amazing results within a day to two days if you just follow this diet/ regimen.

Get yourself some pro-biotics to restore those good bacteria. I know this is going to sound stupid but in your case, with your severe acne, anti-biotics Never work! I don't think i've seen a single long lasting success story concerning anti biotics. I, along with many others would strongly suggest you never take them again, they only get rid of the good bacteria which stop acne! Speaking from personal experience of course.
The GI of a food is how quickly a food is converted into sugar into your body, if it's converted quickly, it causes your blood sugar to rise, causing INSULIN to be released to lower the blood sugar. Insulin ultimately causes more oil on your skin to be produced causing your acne!
The glycemic load of a food item, is how much sugar it has, you don't need to worry about this that much so long as you don't eat sugary foods, fruit being the exception.
Here is a list of foods:
http://www.southbeac...icfoodchart.htm

You should only eat LOW GI foods, with No added sugar just for a few days. Eat nutrient dense foods, your in this state because of a lack of nutrients.

If you want incredible results, follow this. It's not easy but it WILL work.

Once you've done this and you've seen improvements, you can go hardcore mode and get rid of it forever:

http://www.acne.org/...ilation-thread/ browze this thread, your answer for clear skin is indefinitely within here.

http://www.acne.org/...n-you-have-acne judging from your acne, this would be the best option for you!! Follow this and it will go, like it did for me.

The acne around your jawline is caused by hormones. This can be in dairy products or read meat. Everyone goes through a stage of denying the holistic approach because "it's too hard". Well you have to decide if you want to be spot free healthy and feel great. Or enjoy shoveling shit down and dying of 5 diseases when your 60.
Your choice man, acne saved my life.

:D

Remember you are an individual, i can get you mostly clear but you are going to have to develop your own similar regimen to get clear.
