I had horrible back acne in high school but after a dose of oral antibiotics it cleared up perfectly but returned for reasons i dont know why until I narrowed it down. Heres some tips that helped me:

-Drink a good amount of WATER per day. I try to drink 64 oz which is only a half gallon and isnt that much. I rarely drink plain water but i use drink mix packets with no sugar/calories and I drink a lot of sparkling water which to me is better than soda anyway.

-MASTURBATION. This one is key. I used to masturbate heavily to porn like 1-3 times a day in a chair with my back rubbing against the back of the chair. I really slowed down my masturbation rate and i think that is what helped the most in clearing me up.

-SUNLIGHT. Getting a decent amount of sun exposure is good at drying up back/chest acne and reducing scar visibility. I know this is kind of impossible in the winter but seeing as it's summer right now you should be able to easily get 1 hour of sun exposure daily.

-EXERCISE. Exercise and sweating is good for you overall and should be done atleast 5 days a week. I dont lift weights but I play lots of basketball and sweat profusely.

-CLEAN SHEETS. Change your sheets every 1-2 weeks because your back/chests rests on them all night and dirty sheets can easily clog pores and create breakouts.

This might not work for everyone and probably wont cure your back acne but it worked for and made mine manageable and less insecure.

I forgot to add that getting long hot showers is also problematic for back/chest acne. If you are going to get a hot shower make it 5-10 minutes and run cool water over your areas before you get out.

I actually agree with a lot of what you discussed. I've been trying to Head and Shoulders method someone else mentioned in another post when I shower in the mornings. Mine is nowhere near as bad as it once was during my teenage years but the back still seems to tougher to manage in places, as well as the area above the nipples to the shoulders if that makes sense. Those seem to my problem areas. Since it is the summer now, I do think the sunlight helps dry them out a bit and water of course is always good, not just for pimples especially in this heat. I laughed at the masturbation part of it, but I'm not gonna lie, I actually think it does play a role somehow in terms of hormones. Maybe I need to cut back on my porn watching haha. I just bought Dan's Acne.org Benzoyl Peroxide and hoping that will be of some benefit, but it's still annoying having to deal with this in my early 20's, especially after Accutane and Minocycline. My thinking at this stage, for me anyways, is that I may try light treatment in the fall if the response has not been effective by then.

In your masturbating explanation yoy talk about your back rubbing against the chair which causes acne. What about the whole hormones thing?

Agree with them all, a very helpful post. I had mild back acne and I went to see a dermatologist and she recommended the samething as you have. I started putting a blanket over my faux leather chair where I spend almost all day at the computer, stopped exfoliating my back with harsh scrubs, changed my shampoo to an anti dandruff shampoo (not too strong), and have been more aware of how often I change my sheets. Now I'm trying to get rid of my back acne scars, with lime juice, but I'm not sure if it's working yet :) Goodluck to everyone
