If the Share with Facebook button is selected does the post go to the poster's Facebook page, or the Acne.org fan page? How can a poster make sure his or her content is not on their Facebook wall?
Thanks

I just "liked" this thread and it linked it to my Facebook page. I then "unliked" it and removed it from my Timeline so you've no worries there. Guess that answers the question though - it will go the the users personal Facebook page.

It's not something I've paid much attention to, I tend not to mix what I do on Facebook with what I do on acne.org. I'm not bothered too much, it's just that there are some things I prefer to keep within the message boards and I certainly wouldn't want to do anything which may mean other users' posts and so on are shared on my page.

I'm not at all a fan of the changes made to the site which have given more of a social network vibe to it and a lot of people do seem to have been put off by it.

^ This! As far as I'm concerned, we were better off without it.

So Paul, let me get this straight. Anyone with a Facebook account can "like" a topic on Acne.org, and then that topic is added to that person's timeline? And all their friends have access to it? I guess it's the same for images in the gallery?

I "liked" one of my own blog entries, then logged out of acne.org. "Liking" it added the link to my Timeline, which of course my friends can see. My blog is set to members only so when I clicked the link via my Facebook Timeline, I didn't have permission to view it because I wasn’t signed in. So at best, all anyone would surmise from that is that I visit acne.org.. I'd assume that for anyone who is set to public, you'd be able to access that via a link on Facebook.

Maybe I'm missing it, but I can't see anything in the gallery, on individual images, or on my own album that would let me "like" or post to Facebook. That's good. In fact that's essential because I'm certain nobody would want others to have the ability to post or "like" via Facebook. Based on the fact I can’t see anything, I assume they are safe, so to speak.

Seems to me that having visible Facebook-related buttons on the forums is unnecessary and would certainly be a concern for anyone who wishes to keep things private. After all, you don't need to be a member of the site to look at the boards and "like" a thread, thus bringing it to the attention of your Facebook contacts.

Ah, good! I've objected to those buttons from the beginning, and I just noticed that they aren't in the gallery anymore! And I totally agree, having all these buttons everywhere on this website is unnecessary. Most people have a hard enough time talking about their issues, even without this integration. I think jakeshake made it pretty clear that this isn't something everybody "likes" (pun intended).

So your stuff from here only gets posted if you've 'logged in with facebook' in the settings thing here?? Or does it automatically post your acne.org stuff even if you haven't 'connected'??? Sorry I come across really stupid here lol..

I don't know what happens if you log in via Facebook, I haven't actually tried that. Whether you log in that way or not, you could still post this or any other thread to your Facebook by clicking the Facebook "like" logo, just below the reply box.

From what I've gathered, if you are logged in to facebook currently and click the fb 'like' at the bottom of the page then it will post directly to your facebook timeline. Same with the Twitter logo.

I've never paid any attention to it, in fact, if I hadn't of stumbled upon this thread I would not have known about it.

Facebook Sucks!!! it's all about gossip and being so self-centered. Everyone here helps eachother and show interest in seeing the other person succeed. This is MY social networking site :D

Ah thank you for clearing that up!! So as long as I or anyone doesn't click that facebook like thing down the very bottom noone on facebook can see our stuff? Thats good because I'd hate to think people that I see everyday know I come on here. I'm not embarrassed by this place, god no it's just it's best if this is private...another question what happens if I 'like' a users post on here?? For instance if I clicked 'like this' under your post there in reply to me would that be posted to Facebook??

Yeah I agree I don't like the new changes to this site...another thing was that pesky mobile phone mode I had for days. That was a b*tch!! You can't beat old school I guess Posted Image

I just liked your post, it didn't show up on my Facebook timeline, so I guess you're safe Posted Image

eta: I used the "Login with Facebook" option here, not the Acne.org login.

Not really. Facebook and Twitter are separate services that could be used if the user set them up.

It is the option to use FB/TW account information to autorize yourself here.
You can change preferences any time in your profile:

Profile - Settings - Manage my Facebook (twitter)
