There is one thing that truly scares me about my acne.

5 year ago when I was 17, I used an acne cream even though my skin was pretty damn clear. I left on the cream for far too long and my skin got really red and tight and ever since that moment my skin has gone to shit.

I feel like, maybe I am the cause of skin and acne problem. That one mistake is the cause of all this suffering.... and because I damaged my skin, its permanent and it will never be fixed. I am going to be one of those people who, 10 years from now will still complain that they have spots. That thought terrifies me.

I wouldn't conclude that you ruined your skin for life...Your skin is an organ and your body is built to repair itself from damage (whether or not you inflicted it upon yourself) Are you using any acne creams or medications now?? What kind of acne are you getting?? I myself realized that for years I wasn't allowing my skin to do its job and actually made my acne worse. I'm on an all natural product now, African Black Soap, and even though my skin got worse at first, its now repairing itself and I see improvements day by day. Maybe you need to lay off your skin to let it rebalance itself or find out if there is an underlying internal reason why that happened to you.

You are overreacting and did not cause acne. And if you are one of "those people in 10 years": go get laser therapy or fraxl or skin needling.
