Why does my acne clear up during my periods?. My face starts glowing, my lips become fuller.
Why does this happen?. Why can't it be like this all the time ?
Btw, I'm 19 years old. I'm suffering from (very moderate) acne + a bit of rosacea for 5 years . Its much better now,

I would like to know the answer to this as well! For the whole week before my period I break out like crazy, but as soon as it starts my face goes into like rapid recovery mode or something and I stop breaking out and everything has a chance to heal, it's crazy!

My guess is it has something to do with hormones, but since I was thinking about posting the same question you did I'm not sure which hormones are responsible. My guess is that you and I are "low" in whichever hormone it is that increases during our periods. So when our period comes and that hormones increases, it balances our hormones out. But that's just a theory!

Woman typically produce more androgens before their period. This is normal, but your particular androgen level may be too high. Excess androgens have also been linked to PMS and PMDD. Hormonal birth control works for some women because it makes your hormone levels constant throughout the month. High estrogen pills typically clear acne the most. This is also why many women gain weight on birth control, though...more estrogen every day of the month = more opportunity for the body to gain weight.
