I am going to start a regimen/log here basically to test out how much of an effect DHT has on my acne. I know that it is a contributing factor as i have abstained from masturbation in the past and seen improvements. But i want to know if it is my only problem because my acne (which my father, and grandfather and so on, all had) is manifesting itself now during my teen years. I'm 17. My diet is pretty good, not 100% anything though. I rarely eat meat or sugary foods. I have gluten/wheat products maybe twice a week. I eat lots of raw fruits and vegetables, dark chocolate, eggs. No coffee, soda. you get it. Back to my "plan"

So i want to implement PROVEN DHT blocking habits all at once for an extended period of time. Feel free to include me in on any research or facts that contradict me. But what I know is this....

My idea is to completely abstain from masturbation/sex, consume copious amounts of lycopene (tomatoe soup, watermelon, v8, etc), and drink 3 glasses of organic, unsweetened green tea daily for an indefinite amount of time. Hopefully others will share what they know about DHT here and help me fine tune my plan before i implement it.

I too have read many studies that show restraining from masturbation over time can reduce acne. I have literally gone 4-5 months without ANY masturbation on several occasions, and even more to the point, I have masturbated maybe 4-5 times over the last couple years. I know that sounds ridiculous right? Especially for a man. It sounds impossible but it is true. I find other benefits of not rubbing one out all the time aside from acne such as... more energy, focus more on school/work, pursue real relationships, not wasting money on porn etc etc. But as far as acne goes, I did not really see much improvement until I used prescription drugs to control any breakouts. I believe it takes years for your body to adjust to hormone changes not just a few weeks of lower hormones ( such as avoiding orgasm for a month).

As far as your diet goes, it is worth a shot. But avoiding all meat is not advisable. Lean meat such as turkey and chicken breast is actually quite healthy for the body. However, it would not be a terrible idea to avoid pork, burgers and fatty meats such as fried chicken.

i love your determination, but im going to have to disagree with you slightly, if you research "testosterone spike masturbation" there is tons of information on a spike of hormones that occurs on the 7th day after an orgasm. And personally i have gone 3 weeks, which is the longest (pathetic i know), and i definitely saw the effects of the 7th day but then after that it was smooth sailing. It didnt cure my acne but reduced in noticeably. But yes I do agree that excessive masturbation is generally bad. I play volleyball and whenever I abstain for a while, my joints feel awesome when I jump. But if i have a bad streak of masturbation, they feel really weak and i overall have less energy. Also, yeah i believe that meat shouldn't be completely avoided but the average meat consumption of americans is well over the recommended amount. I think meat should be consumed from sources like fish and chicken and turkey but not as the entire meal! no steak or chicken dinners, just meat occasionally. I also believe we live in a culture in which pornography is incredibly accessible and at the rate that the porn industry is increasing in size, it is becoming detrimental to our society. Nothing against porn, but just in general, excessive masturbation is harmful.

I completely agree with what you said about porn. 30 years ago (before my time) Playboy magazines were considered porn. However in this new age of technology, teenagers and adults can surf for hours on end looking at explicit videos for free daily. I havent masturbated since tuesday. and i've been drinking 2 tall glasses of tomato juice. I also eat a little coconut or olive oil with that because apparently oil increases the absorption of lycopene 3 fold. Also i have been drinking at least 2 cups of loose leaf green tea daily. I think I have to wait at least 2 weeks under this regimen to claim any sort of results, seeing how an orgasm can affect your hormones for a week following.

I started taking stinging nettle! I can let you guys know if it works but me but seeing as though I am a female... I don't think I have to worry about masturbation being a contributor. I think DHT could seriously be a cause though so I am trying to reduce my DHT as well as the bad estrogen in my body.

so i have incorporated all 4 things, tomato purree, abstaining from masturbation, green tea, and fiber (glucomannan & psyllium husks). This is working! WOW! i still get some bumps, but much less. It feels so good!

Masturbation causes a spike in DHT? Really? If that is really true, then it would explain male pattern baldness, since usually high DHT levels are attributed to male hair loss. Not sure how it affects acne, but I don't think the increased DHT levels are substantial. If anything, there is always propecia and avodart. Anyone tried these drugs? What affect did they have on your skin?

major improvement here! I haven't masturbated in about a month

Gratz on willpower, but not masturbating for long bears an increased risk of prostate cancer and urinary problems. Please consider your health. I would say release once a week should be rare enough to not let DHT levels spike and often enough to keep you healthy. Humans are meant to reproduce.
