2 and a half years ago out of nowhere cystic acne swarmed my face. I had pefectly clear skin until this point. I was put on acctuane and finished June of 2010. I tried pushing my doctor to let me go another month or two because my acne still wasn't gone after the 6 months, but he wouldn't. I can remember things would trigger my face to turn insanely vibrantly red during my course. While the acne and redness are not as bad, it still exists. I figured 2 years later I would be fine but I guess not. In the past 2 years I've tried alot of different things emu oil, smothering my face in cetaphil lotion, frequently washing, avoid touching, etc. I think the emu oil has helped the redness but the more I use it, the less effective it seems to be. Also, I think it can sometimes clog my pores and break me out a bit. I try to avoid topicals and switched derms because she's an idiot and wouldn't give me anything besides topicals that make my face look even more red and nasty. My new dermatologist gave me doxycycline and a bp face wash that I am currently using. The redness is all over my cheeks and runs up the side of my face and on my forehead. I also have scarring you can see some on the side of my head but my camera sucks. I think it looks worse in person than in the pictures.

So, any ideas to try and clear this up? Could the redness be due in partially to blackheads and other zits I have? I have bannanna boat aloe vera, would that help at all? Could the vyvanse I'm taking make my face flush? Would I benefit from small doses of accutane?

All ideas appreciated.

Doesnt seem too bad....maybe switch to a less harsh face wash? Im using an all natural coconut milk cleanser. Very calming and soothing for my super sensitive skin. I would recommend emu oil but you have already been using that. I dont know. Im dealing with similiar issues. My derm gave me metrogel and ketoconazole. After 6 days, ive really noticed no difference. Aloe vera might help, but you need to make sure its 100%. Most of them have added chemicals and preservatives in them.
