I know that breaking this habit takes work. I just don't understand why I sabotage my attempts. Getting worked up about it only makes it worse.

Don't worry about it! Every time you 'fail' and pick again, it becomes a little bit easier the next time you try. The key is just to not let yourself give up and say 'i'll try again tomorrow'. Just keep at it and keep looking for new ways to break the habit and you'll get there eventually. Try not to get too upset, just learn to forgive yourself and work with yourself. :)

I have the exact same issue.. I try so hard not to pick, then at night when I'm washing my face before bed I pick every single spot on my face. I go to bed feeling completely defeted and feel like I look terrible. Its a horrible cycle.
