Here's the story.

I've had acne all through highschool and im almost two years removed from that and I still finding myself getting pimples on my face and forehead and still having my cheeks pretty red so I thought, hey! I could always try the Regimen and hopefully that could clear me up some.

So I did some research on the regimen and instead of buying from the site, I used some reccommended products like

Cleanser:
Clean and Clear Foaming Facial Cleanser

Benzoyl Peroxide
I had some 4% Solugel BP laying around that was never used (Non recommended product from the regimen page)

Moisturizer
Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

But im having some issues. I find the BP really makes my face burn when I apply it as well as during the day and the moisturizer doesn't really get into the skin and leaves my skin kind of shiny and greasy all day not to mention my parents are asking why my face is so red now (my guess is the reaction from the stuff im using)

So is this normal?

I'm doing it twice a day and i'm following the steps and videos pretty clear

Advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!

you should definitely try to get some 2.5% BP. the 4% is probably burning your skin. although I have to say, i was on the regimen since last august and currently stopped because my facial redness and dryness never went away. everybody's different though. if you're just beginning, i suggest to stick with it. your face should adjust to the BP sooner or later. but you really want to get a 2.5% instead of the 4% asap. there's really no good 2.5% BP on the shelf that I can find, so you might want to order Dan's. good luck!

You're probably applying way too much BP. Start off with a very low amount and gradually work your way up. 4% is also way stronger than the 2.5% and shows absolutely no difference between them.

i highly recommend Dan's BP or even all his products, it comes with a lot more and the quality of his product is excellent. You would want to start of real slowly, probably about a peasize just at night for a week then bump up to peasize day and night for a week, then half a finger length for the next week and if u can handle it, full dosage for the week after and apply full dosage until ur completely clear and then u can adjust the regimen to your own. When applying BP, you want to avoid neck and eye area as it is most sensitive part of ur skin. When moisturising, keep in mind that you still want to avoid the eye area and neck because the moisturiser will carry the bp along with it.
Good Luck

oh yea! dan's regimen definitely works. but my skin is so sensitive it just can't take all the BP anymore. I really lowered my dose of dan's BP in the last few months but I was still really red and dry and I just can't take it anymore. I'm currently experimenting with another BP to see if maybe I'm just allergic to something in Dan's. So far so good. I'm also only applying at night time, which was very scary to do since I have religiously smeared BP on twice a day everyday for like the last 15 years lol. and my skin looks so much better. I'd love to quit BP all together but I'm too afraid.

Thanks for the help guys. For BP I was using from my finger knuckle down (half finger length) compared to pea size so that is likely the issue, as well as I was doing it twice a day as that was perscribed by the label. So I will cut back and try the Regimen and may even give Dan's products a shot. I'd hate to use accutane because I've read all the side effects and it definintely scares me to try. But there are also success stories from it as well. I went to a dermatologist when I was younger and he said my acne wasn't the worse he had seen but I could get accutane if I wanted to try it. Maybe I need to post some face pics?

I get what you mean!! Ive been on the regimen for about 6 weeks now and Id say about 80 percent of my face is clear now!!
Just dealing with some small lingering zits and red marks which im sure will fade becuase my acne is not that severe.
I also dont think Im allergic to Dans BP because i dont have any redness but the dryness and flakes are almost like having acne
since it keeps me from going out right now! Hopefully once im completely clear i can reduce my bp to maybe 1 pump?
Or what would you recommend to Help with the dryness and extreme flaking?

You have to start super slow! like a drop the first week then 2 drops the next week and so forth..

Also you should stop and wait till you get DANS bp..its seriously the best and probably wont dry you up as much as the 4% your using right now.

And if your face still feels dry after applying lotion, dont be afraid to reapply alittle more.

Hope this helps, and im also dealing with alot of dryness soo i can relate to you bro. Stay up!

haha i know what you mean about not going out because of flakes omg. i've been a hermit for the last 8 or so months! for me it was weird, i was dry the first 7 months probably. towards month 5-7 i had the flakes under control and then for some reason in my 8th month i got really red and very very dry. i also had little "burnt" patches of skin. very weird. so i'm wondering if i developed an allergy from using so much BP for so long? idk.
anyway what i did to get the skin off.... DON'T exfoliate please. i tried a few times and it caused pimples. dan is absolutely right. don't irritate your skin.
in the morning when i woke up was when i was the most dry. in the shower i'd wash my face last, so that my skin was softened from the warm water. then as i washed my face i'd rub in gentle circles to help get the dead skin off. then after i got out of the shower id do it again at the sink. just wet my face again and try to gently rub off the dead skin. even that didn't work though, but it helped. then the other crucial part is while you're moisturizing, make a bunch of weird faces to stretch your skin out. if you yawn and open your mouth wide and make funny faces, it allows the moisturizer to get into the dry areas better. i also did plain yogurt masks twice a day for a while. this really helps moisturize your skin and it's supposed to exfoliate too. just plain yogurt. i have to say when i first started i didn't do it slowly and maybe that's why i had so much trouble with dryness. so you're definitely doing the right thing by taking it slow =) just stick with it and try those tricks. ever since i've been doing the regimen once a day my skin is a lot healthier looking. i want to slowly get my face back to twice a day though. good luck =)

I will try to make wierd faces lol i get how it would work though so thanks

and i did not take it slow lol i started too fast then cut down but now im at the full finger and just dealing with dryness, not redness or itching.

anddd on my 2nd week i tried exfoliating and i broke out soo bad soo trust me i learned that lesson!

but i do rub lightly with the cleanser and that helps, plus im trying jojoba oil now with dans lotion. Im hoping that helps alot! then AHA by next week.

Hope you can get back to twice a day and keep yor skin somewhat hydrated lol goodluckk

Hey NateDog92, I've been on the regimen for 15 months. I HIGHLY recommend getting Dan's bp. It did wonders for clearing up my face.

check out my thread to see what I found to work http://www.acne.org/...pdate-pictures/

If you have any Q/s feel free to throw em my way! we're all in this thing together.
