Derm told me to use Aczone in the AM and Aczone/Ziana in the PM. I have red marks and a get pimples on my chin. She said it will help with the acne on my chin, but didnt say anything about the redness. Im so confused! I used Aczone and Tazorac CREAM a few years back to clear me up 100%, and this Ziana is Clindamycin and tretanoin GEL. Im not so convinced the Tretanoin GEL will help clear the red marks. Anyone have any feedback? Thanks.

I was prescribed both aczone and ziana to about 3 weeks ago. I know this isn't gonna help but everyones skin is different. Ziana killed my skin. It made it soooooo oily and flaky that i had to stop useing it after about a week. Aczone seemed alright didnt irritate my skin. Slight bit drying but i could barely tell because of the oily globs from ziana. As for marks ive heard ziana has worked well for peoples post acne marks. I didnt have any to start with so i cant tell you if it helped. I know you probaly werent hoping to hear a response like this but thats my experience with the 2. Also which type of cleanser you using? Im just interested because i had trouble finding a cleanser that worked while i was on the 2.

Best of luck hopefully it can put out better results then it did for me.

Murph, i was on that regimen for 3 month and i too did not have positive results. With that said, with ALL retinoids, no matter how mild the concentration, you need to start very slowly - like using it every 3 days for a few weeks. The redness could be due to:

irritation from too much and/or too fast usage of Ziana

the fact that Ziana peels layers of skin(clearing out pores) and that can also irritate your skin, make it read.

in any event, it can take up to several months to begin to see improvement and there is a high likelihood that things will get worse before they get better. Prepare your mind to wait 3 months before making a judgement call. I know it's hard but nothing is a quick fix.
