I finished 4 1/2 months at 40mg last week and my skin was very clear with pretty much no notable spots for 2 months.

1 week post Accutane and my skin is becoming oily again and my forehead is starting to get very patchy and red and spots are starting to breakthrough. This is an area where I normally didn't break out much before accutane.

What makes me so upset is that I haven't had a derm appointment since Feb and I tried to book another one desperately in the last few weeks to extend my course but I had no luck.

I really wanted 1 more month at 50mg to just stop this from happening but had no luck.

4 months does sound a bit on the risky side, did you derm suggest you finished at this time or did you actually reach your culmative dosage and was ready to be off it?, and about the derm situation, is there any chance you can give him/her a ring and get a new prescription sent out to you urgently. Best of luck with what you choose to do and hopefully next time you write again it'll be to tell us you've been acne free for months

Around 2 months in, my derm said I was making great progress as my skin was already spot free. At that point I had 2 1/2 months left so he just assumed that would be enough for me and 4 1/2 months was my culmative dose.

Then 2 weeks before my final batch was about to end I tried contacting his department several times but he never got back to me. At this point I just wanted 1 more month at 50mg to reduce the chances of a relapse.

It's extremely unlikely I will ever get in touch with him directly through the hospital, so my only chance is to go through my GP and that will probably be very long winded =(

Go back, tell him what's going on and I'm sure he'll put you back on for a month or 2. Hope everything gets better. I'm on the first week of my 3rd month of 80mg a day and it's working great. Good luck!
