I was wondering what your thoughts were on Cetaphil? I want to find a good cleanser and I was recomended Cetaphil. Anybody tried it and had positive results with it?

In my experience, BP really does work best with a gentle cleanser. And that's just what Cetaphil is. It's especially cool because it cleanses and moisturises at the same time, somewhat alleviating the drying effects of BP, especially in the first few weeks.

That being said, it is VERY gentle. So... good enough to wash off your last dose of BP and the moisturiser you put over it...entirely useless against my long wearing foundation:)

I use it in the mornings, and in the evenings I use a slightly less gentle cleanser, and THEN cataphil (without water, pretty much like a lotion) before BP.

So ya, depending on what you need to wash off your face, Cetaphil is pretty good.

I've tried it and didn't particularly like it. As the above poster said, it definitely does not remove makeup. I just felt that it left a film on my face and didn't do anything except rinse. I like my cleanser to at least make my face feel and look fresh, even if it's gentle.

If you want a good cleanser that does not break people out use Lacura creamy face wash (you can get this on ebay). It moisturizes while thoroughly cleanse skin, very gentle formula and it is one of the reasons why I have clear skin now. Before using it, I used to use mark gel cleanser, it was good and cleared my acne but due to AHA it made my skin super oily.

Cetaphil contains cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol. These are both fatty alcohols, not the drying alcohol we're told to avoid.

Nay--I used it when my dermatologist gave it to me. It feel oily and made me oily after a couple days of use. It's a little outdated in its ingredients. If you are looking for something simple and light, try CereVe. I really recommend it. I use Paula's Choice, but this is always my backup cleanser.

Honestly, not a fan. My derm recommended it to me to use along with Epiduo (Adapalene (synthetic retinoid) plus 2.5% BP), and especially if you're using something drying like a retinoid or BP, it will dry you out. It always makes my skin feel tight/flaky after I use it and sometimes it burns if my skin is particularly irritated. It also leaves a film after I've rinsed and doesn't really feel like a cleanser when I put it on my skin (very slippery and thick)

I don't like it since it contains a ton of sulfates and parabens. Like others have mentioned, it doesn't do a great job of removing makeup, either.
